I’ve been using LinkedIn for a few years now, and changing job alerts is something I do pretty often to keep my search focused. The key is to head to your LinkedIn homepage and click the “Jobs” tab at the top. Once you’re there, look for the “Job alerts” section on the left sidebar—it’s usually under “My jobs” or directly visible. Click on it, and you’ll see a list of all the alerts you’ve set up. Each alert has a small edit icon (pencil) or a toggle switch next to it. Tap that to adjust the frequency (daily, weekly, or as they happen) or change the keywords, location, and filters. If you want to stop an alert, just toggle it off or hit the three dots and select “Delete alert.” I’ve found that setting alerts to weekly instead of daily cuts down on noise and helps me focus on quality matches. Also, if you’re using the mobile app, the process is similar: go to the Jobs tab, tap the bell icon at the top right, and manage your alerts there. Just remember to save your changes—it’s easy to forget and wonder why nothing’s updated.

Honestly, I just tap the Jobs icon on the app, then the bell icon at the top right. That pulls up all my alerts. I swipe left on any I want to change, hit Edit, and adjust the location or keywords. Super quick. I usually set mine to “Send daily” so I don’t miss anything but don’t get overwhelmed.

For me, the trick is to use the desktop version because the mobile UI can be clunky. I click “Jobs” at the top, then “Job alerts” on the left. I scroll through and click the pencil icon next to each alert. I change the “Frequency” to weekly and adjust the “Radius” to 25 miles to get local results. Works like a charm.

I’m a bit of a power user, so I log into LinkedIn on a browser, go to “Jobs” > “My jobs” > “Job alerts”. I then delete old alerts that no longer match my interests and create new ones with specific boolean operators (like “(Recruiter OR Talent Acquisition) AND (Manager)”). I also set the “Posted within” filter to “Past week” to avoid stale listings.

I find it easiest to use the search bar on LinkedIn. I type in a job title I want alerts for, hit enter, then on the results page, I toggle the “Job alert” switch on. That creates a new alert instantly. To change an existing one, I go to “Jobs” > “Manage alerts” from the dropdown menu. I adjust the frequency to “Daily” and add a location so I don’t get irrelevant postings from across the country.
