### **Description** **If you have solid professional experience in Golang and Kubernetes, keep reading.** ### **Engineering Manager · European Cloud (Observability / PostgreSQL)** **Location:** Barcelona, hybrid **Salary:** €85,000 – €100,000 gross/year + benefits package #### **About the project** We collaborate with the Barcelona technology hub of one of the world’s largest distribution and retail groups, present in over 30 countries and employing hundreds of thousands of people. In addition to providing technological support across the entire group, they have built their own cloud platform, with the genuine ambition of becoming a European alternative to major U.S. providers. They benefit from collaboration and support from European institutions and are currently expanding rapidly in Barcelona. #### **The role** You will lead one or two engineering teams of 5–6 engineers each, supported by a technical Engineering Lead for deeper domain execution. You will have direct input into technical architecture and decisions shaping how the product is built. You will be instrumental in building the team: deciding which profiles align with the project’s culture and leading growth planning as the team scales. You will also act as the bridge between the Spain and Germany teams, serving as the local manager of reference for your team. **Key responsibilities** * Support your team’s professional development, helping each individual advance toward their career goals. * Be accountable for the design, development, provisioning, and operation of services within your domain, including validation and sustainability of system designs. * Conduct code reviews, ensuring code meets standards for scalability, maintainability, and correctness. * Maintain full technical visibility into the product and actively participate in defining the roadmap. * Lead team resource planning aligned with the product roadmap. **How your day-to-day works** The team delivers an MVP every quarter. The Product Owner defines the product strategy ("what"); you define "how": technical design, architecture, and execution. Working on an in-house cloud platform gives you broad autonomy for research and independent decision-making within the team. #### **The two open positions** **Observability** A currently small domain within a rapidly expanding company, focused on IT security and platform services (Secrets Manager, Telemetry, Mail Out). Specific experience in cryptography and encryption is highly valued. **PostgreSQL** The most mature and commercially successful product on the platform, with thousands of instances already in production. Here, the challenge lies in delivering stability to a highly critical system serving real customers. You will lead a hybrid Spain/Germany team of approximately 10 people.
