Collaborative culture with real impact on business strategy We’re **Kabilio**, a company backed by two leading venture capital firms, founded by experienced entrepreneurs, **Alex Valls** and **Jose Ojeda**, with a strong track record in building and scaling successful tech companies. #### **What We’re Building** Our goal is to become the go\-to **Financial Operating System for accounting firms and SMEs in Southern Europe**, unifying accounting, tax, payments, planning, and banking into a single platform. We are currently a tight\-knit team of 50 people and plan to grow in 2026, with a strong focus on engineering, product design, and sales. #### **Why this role matters?** Today, **Kabilio already runs three core products in production — Invoices Processing, Bank Transactions, and Invoicing** — used daily by real customers. At the same time, we’re building our Accounting platform, the product that defines our long\-term vision and the reason Kabilio was founded. AI sits at the core of everything we build, from automating and categorizing financial data to enabling intelligent workflows and decision\-making across the entire financial lifecycle. We rely on modern architectures and proven technologies to turn this vision into a scalable, production\-ready platform. * \> **We are building our data platform from scratch**. We currently do not have a centralized Data Warehouse, and we are looking for someone to help design, build, and evolve our data infrastructure from the ground up. **This role will play a key part in how Kabilio captures, processes, models, and leverages its operational data for reporting, BI, advanced analytics, product insights, and strategic decision\-making.** Our initial data stack is expected to be lightweight and pragmatic, likely combining S3 for raw data storage, MotherDuck/DuckDB for analytical workloads, and dbt or similar tools for transforming and modeling. We value someone who can help us validate and evolve this architecture rather than overengineering it from day one. **As the first data\-focused hire at Kabilio, you’ll work alongside engineering leadership to lay the foundations of our data platform.** The role is built as a runway: you come in as a strong mid\-level engineer and, over the next 12\-18 months, grow into a senior owner of the data function as the team forms around you. #### **What you’ll do?** * Co\-design the foundations. Partner with engineering leadership on the architecture of our Data Warehouse / Lakehouse – ingestion, storage, transformation, modeling, and serving – and help validate the stack as we evolve it. * Own the pipelines end\-to\-end. Build, ship, and maintain robust ELT pipelines that integrate operational systems and external tools. This is the part of the platform you’ll fully own from day one. * Model the data the business will run on. Design the analytical models and datasets that power early reporting and product insights, and help make sure key metrics are defined consistently across the org. * Help us shape data quality and governance. Propose and implement pragmatic standards for testing, documentation, lineage, and observability – the kind a future data team will thank you for. * Bootstrap data culture. Until dedicated BI/DS roles are in place, you’ll partner with Product, Engineering, and business teams to unblock decisions and seed the first analytics use cases. #### **Your first 6\-12 months** We want to be honest about what this role looks like in practice, so you can decide if the trajectory excites you: **Month 1\-3** –\> You ramp up on our products and operational data, ship the first ingestion pipelines into a working warehouse, and deliver the first dashboards the team actually uses. **Month 4\-9** –\> You take ownership of the platform’s day\-to\-day evolution: data models, transformations, monitoring, cost. You start co\-leading architectural decisions with engineering leadership **Month 9\-18** –\> You’re the senior owner of the data function: setting standards, mentoring the next data hires, and shaping how BI and Data Science capabilities grow on top of what you’ve built. #### **What we offer?** * **Salary range:** Competitive salary (TBD in the first call). * Flexible benefits via Cobee. * **Hybrid setup**: 3 days/week in our Barcelona office. Your ideas will have a real impact, and you will have the chance to shape and grow with the business #### **What should you bring to the table?** We’re less interested in a checklist and more in how you think. That said, you likely bring most of the following: * 2\-5 years working as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or similar. * String SQL and analytical data modeling. You’ve contributed to a Warehouse or Lakehouse before, even if you didn’t design it from scratch. * Hands\-on experience building and maintaining ELT pipelines on operational data (product, sales, finance, etc.). * Comfort with the modern data toolbox: DuckDB/MotherDuck, dbt, S3, and at least one orchestrator (Airflow, Dagster) or warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery). * Solid engineering judgment – you can reason about architectural trade\-offs and push back on overengineering, even if you haven’t led the call yet. **And you’ll thrive here if:** * Building from a blank page energizes you, even if you haven’t taken something end\-to\-end before. * You’re comfortable with ambiguity and want a role where ownership grows quickly. * You see this as the role where you go from doing senior work to being a senior. * Professional level **Spanish,** and English (B1 should be enough). * Above all, **you’re a reliable and trustworthy person** ##### **Nice to have** * Working knowledge of Python for data processing, automation, or validation. * Exposure to BI tools (Looker, Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, Superset) and/or to data governance, observability, or cataloging. * Experience collaborating with ML or Data Science teams. #### **Hiring process** * Video call to get to know each other (30 minutes) * Video call with one of the **Ivan, CTO** (45 minutes) * **Technical test** * Test debrief with the tech team * Meeting with founders on\-site Job offer
