Description

Transform your life and continue advancing your professional career at Mapfre Tech! You will join an international environment where you can innovate by participating in global projects focused on the latest technological trends — all within a flexible and agile setting surrounded by outstanding professionals from around the world… Are you ready? At Mapfre, we seek a **Principal Engineer** to lead the evolution of the FinOps domain and prioritize AI cost control as the first strategic focus. Your primary responsibility will be to act as Owner of the FinOps Platform, evolving it not only to cover cloud cost control but also to address new requirements for visibility, governance, optimization, and economic control arising from LLM token consumption and AI services. On a day-to-day basis, you will serve as the functional and technical owner of our platform: defining standards, models, control mechanisms, decision criteria, and a clear roadmap for platform evolution — incorporating capabilities for quota management, cloud cost control, alerts, consumption traceability, product/team-level visibility, and optimization of AI- and LLM-related spending. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Cloud, Architecture, Data, Security, Finance, and Engineering Platform teams. **Where are we located?** ------------------- This position will be based at our Las Tablas offices in Madrid. **What will be your responsibilities?** -------------------------------- Make our platform, within the FinOps framework, a strategic capability for the Group: enabling cloud and AI cost planning, forecasting, and optimization — especially costs associated with LLM token consumption; delivering clear, actionable, and traceable financial visibility across organizational levels; and enabling corporate mechanisms for quotas, alerts, budgetary control, optimization, and economic governance. Assume ownership of the FinOps Platform, defining its vision, roadmap, priorities, and evolution criteria. Lead AI cost control at MAPFRE, integrating PLUTO360 with specific capabilities to measure, govern, and optimize LLM token consumption and AI services. Evolve existing quota management, cloud cost control, and alerting mechanisms to cover AI, GenAI, and intensive LLM model usage scenarios. Define visibility, reporting, and traceability models by product, team, application, provider, use case, and organizational unit. Define and evolve cloud and AI budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization models. Design and govern chargeback/showback models supporting multiple allocation criteria for cloud, AI, and shared services. Lead the evolution of the FinOps Planner, Tracker, and Optimizer modules, incorporating LLM-specific capabilities. Define cost calculators, scenario simulators, and optimization mechanisms for cloud, AI, and token consumption. Design executive dashboards with visibility by entity, country, product, provider, and use case. Align the FinOps model with the TBM (CAPEX / OPEX) framework for DataCenters and with emerging AI economic governance requirements. Define functional requirements, Definition of Done (DoD), and acceptance criteria for PLUTO360 enhancements. Ensure FinOps capabilities — including AI cost control — are consumable via API. Define KPIs and metrics for FinOps efficiency, optimization, adoption, and maturity — including specific indicators for LLM cost, consumption, and efficiency. **What expertise do we require?** ------------------------------- Expertise in FinOps practices with solid data knowledge * Strong understanding of enterprise-level FinOps practices: * Experience in cloud economics (AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI). * Experience with on-premise environments and OpenShift. * Design of cost models, optimization, and economic governance. * Experience with internal platforms and engineering products. * Data modeling and executive reporting. * Experience with FinOps allocation models.
