We are looking for a **Head of PR & Communications**, responsible for building, developing, and amplifying Octopus Energy Spain’s brand narrative—generating organic media visibility, relevant conversations, and public positioning for the company. Your primary focus will be turning Octopus’ milestones, proposals, products, data, and values into **compelling stories for media, journalists, customers, and the general public**, aiming to increase brand awareness without relying exclusively on paid investment. This role combines communications strategy, media relations, corporate storytelling, reputation management, creative thinking, and the ability to translate complex energy-sector topics into simple, human, and media-friendly messages. **We call it the ‘Octopus Effect’** Working at Octopus Energy means being part of a company where culture truly matters. We want curious, humble people with ambition to improve every day. ### **\uD83D\uDCAA What You’ll Do at Octopus** ### **PR and Communications Strategy** * Define and execute Octopus Energy Spain’s **communications strategy**. * Build Octopus’ **brand narrative** in Spain: clean energy, savings, technology, transparency, customer service, and a genuine alternative to major utilities. * **Identify communication opportunities** to generate unpaid presence in national, economic, general-interest, sector-specific, and lifestyle media. * Create **distinctive narrative territories** to differentiate Octopus within the energy sector. * Design **editorial calendars and communications plans** aligned with key business moments, product launches, energy-related current events, and brand campaigns. ### **Communications, Reputation, and Media Relations** * Build **strong relationships** with journalists, editorial teams, and opinion leaders to generate relevant organic visibility across national, economic, energy, technology, sustainability, and consumer media. * Protect the company’s **reputation**, defining key messages for sensitive topics and preparing internal spokespeople for interviews, events, or public statements. * **Coordinate closely** with Brand, Growth, Customer, Solar, Product, Social, Media, CRM, Partnerships, and Global Comms teams to amplify campaigns and turn business initiatives into editorial-worthy stories. * Measure **communications impact**, including media coverage, quality of presence, share of voice, brand authority, and contribution to awareness, trust, and growth. ### **\uD83D\uDCDD What You’ll Need** * **10+ years of experience in communications, PR**, press offices, communications agencies, or corporate communications departments. * Demonstrable experience securing organic media coverage in national, economic, sector-specific, or consumer outlets. * Excellent **writing and storytelling skills**. * Ability to translate technical or complex topics into simple, human, and media-friendly messages. * Knowledge of the **Spanish media ecosystem**. * Languages: native Spanish; English highly valued for coordination with global teams. * Proactive, creative, strategic, and business-oriented mindset. * Reputational judgment and ability to manage sensitive topics maturely. * Interest in energy, sustainability, technology, consumer behavior, innovation, or purpose-driven brands. \uD83D\uDCA1 **Bonus points if you have…** * Experience in **regulated sectors**, such as energy, technology, consumer goods, banking, telecoms, or mobility. * Experience **crafting compelling narratives for media**. * Ability to work with data and turn it into journalistic stories. * Experience preparing spokespeople and managing interviews. * Ability to create PR ideas that don’t rely on large budgets. * Strategic vision to build a relevant brand—not just isolated campaign impacts. * **️ Job Conditions** * \uD83C\uDFE0 **Office:** Madrid, Valencia, or Barcelona * **\uD83D\uDC4B\uD83C\uDFFC Start Date:** Immediate * **\uD83D\uDCDD Contract Type:** Permanent * + **Working Hours:** Full-time * **\uD83D\uDCB6 Salary:** Wondering about the salary for this role?
