DevOps Engineer (Pharma) WayOps is looking for a DevOps Engineer eager to grow professionally by participating in a project within a demanding environment in the pharmaceutical sector, with a strong technical foundation in infrastructure deployment on AWS and Python development, capable of automating development, testing, and production environments supporting agentic Artificial Intelligence platforms. PROJECT TEAM You will join strategic corporate application development initiatives for one of our key international clients in the pharmaceutical sector. The project focuses on enabling, deploying, and maintaining development, testing, and production (PRD) environments that support AI agents, where low latency and high availability are critical. You will be part of the platform engineering team, supporting strategic Generative AI and agentic development initiatives. Cloud infrastructure serves as the foundation for high-performance microservices, automated continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and critical databases essential for intelligent agent operations. You will integrate into a highly skilled technical team, collaborating with backend, frontend, DevOps, and AI engineers of varying seniority levels, coordinated by a technical lead. The dynamic is highly collaborative, employing modern methodologies and emphasizing efficient pipeline creation in GitLab and robust automation with Python for AI products. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the stability, scalability, and ongoing maintenance of environments on AWS and Azure, implementing necessary tools to monitor real-time data flows and optimizing corporate repository management for agile deployments. FUNCTIONS RESPONSIBILITIES On a day-to-day basis, you will serve as the infrastructure and operations subject matter expert, actively engaging in tasks such as: * Provisioning, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of development, test, and production (PRD) environments on cloud platforms * Comprehensive automation of CI/CD pipelines and corporate repository management using GitLab exclusively * Development and implementation of robust Python and Bash scripts for infrastructure and agentic service automation * Management of hybrid cloud infrastructure: core AWS services (SQS, S3, EC2, Networking) and support for AI services on Azure * Implementation of comprehensive observability and monitoring strategies to ensure high availability of AI environments * Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) management for agile creation, replication, and consistency of development and production environments REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE To be considered, you must demonstrate proven experience managing critical production environments and continuous deployment workflows. Essential skills and knowledge include: * Solid and in-depth experience with the AWS ecosystem and provisioning of its associated services * Advanced proficiency in Python for developing automations, scripting, and integrations with agentic architectures * Expert use of GitLab for version control, corporate repository management, and CI/CD pipeline optimization * Practical experience in enabling, maintaining, and supporting development, test/QA, and production (PRD) environments * Knowledge of Azure cloud services and their connectivity or hybrid integration with AWS infrastructure **Additionally, the following will be viewed favorably:** * Prior experience configuring cloud infrastructure for Generative AI or vector database projects * Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools aligned with GitOps workflows in GitLab * Valid official AWS certifications (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator, or Solutions Architect) * Experience working on complex corporate projects using agile methodologies such as Scrum CONTRACT LOCATION Collaboration will preferably be as an independent contractor, with annual contracts and tacit renewal, within a long-term project designed to offer stability and continuity. For candidates with exceptional technical or cultural fit, permanent salaried employment may be considered. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week). The project operates primarily remotely, requiring only minimal hybrid on-site presence—once per month—at the client’s offices in Madrid/Sanchinarro for team alignment and technical coordination activities.
