I’m Leyre, the recruiter for this position. I love writing and reading horror stories, but what I enjoy most is sharing a great family meal with the people I love most. If you’re as passionate about 70s and 80s music as I am, we’ll definitely connect! Perhaps this is the tenth opportunity you’ve read today—maybe you’re lounging on the sofa with Netflix playing in the background, or perhaps you’re in the middle of a major life transition… and they all seem the same to you. Let me be clear: at Zurich, we’re not perfect—but we’re pretty cool! And if you’d like to know why, keep reading. First and foremost, THANK YOU for your interest in our company. We know that searching for new opportunities can be challenging—but don’t worry; everything comes in due time! **Let’s get straight to the point!** I’ll summarize our DNA in two key points: + We love volunteering—but we prefer to be **activists for change**. How? By focusing our efforts on young people at risk of social exclusion or fighting climate change through actions such as reforesting forests in Madrid and Doñana National Park. In 2024, we contributed over 20,000 hours of activism. + At Zurich, we say it loud and clear: we’re proud of our colors and believe diverse teams make the difference. Here, we don’t talk about disability—we talk about ability. **Being authentically yourself is our top priority**, with no closets standing between us and no glass ceilings. Fifty percent of our leadership positions are held by women (including the Executive Committee). Did you know we produce our own podcasts on sexual identity? We’re building a company where everyone is welcome. **You might be wondering: Leyre, what will my day-to-day look like wearing the blue shirt? I love that you’re asking this question (I asked myself the same thing back then):** During your internship, your responsibilities will include: + Supporting standard risk assessments in accordance with internal criteria. + Reviewing technical reports and construction project documentation. + Drafting commercial proposals and offers. + Collaborating with sales teams to monitor operations. + Training on insurance products applied to construction: - All-Risk Construction and Installation Insurance - Ten-Year Liability Insurance for Building Defects - Construction Civil Liability Insurance - External Damage Insurance for Machinery + Participation in team meetings and committees. **By now, you’re probably wondering: “How do I know if I’m a good fit?”** Don’t worry—we’re not looking for someone who knows everything from day one. We’re seeking attitude, eagerness to learn, and motivation to grow within the insurance industry. We need someone with knowledge or academic background related to the **construction sector**: architect, technical architect, surveyor, building engineering, or other engineering disciplines. Additionally… + Analytical skills and attention to detail. + Interest in the insurance industry and risk management. + Curiosity about how construction projects or retail businesses operate. + Willingness to learn technical aspects of the sector. + Proactivity and enthusiasm for learning. **Are you interested? We’re eager to meet you—but before you apply, please note…** + A collaboration agreement with a university and/or business school of at least six months’ duration is required. + We’re constantly growing—and if this works out, we’d love to have you on board! + Part-time schedule (5 hours per day, mornings Monday through Friday). + Location: our offices in Madrid. + Paid internship: €800. + Plus access to training—and much more! Right now, you’re either feeling the thrill of finding the perfect pair of jeans—or thinking: “This isn’t for me.” (If it’s not for you, that’s perfectly fine—we’ll surely cross paths again in the future.) Feel free to play matchmaker and share my contact details with anyone you think might be a good fit. If you’ve made it this far, THANK YOU for reading. What did you think? Are we cool—or not? If you felt butterflies in your stomach and believe we’re a good match, send up smoke signals—or your CV, if smoke isn’t your thing. And to wrap things up—would you like to hear what others at Zurich think? I’d tell you we remain among the top employers in Spain according to Top Employers España—but I encourage you to check our Glassdoor profile so they can tell you themselves. No tricks, no gimmicks. I hope to meet you very soon. Leyre Romea
