The Shop Assistant role involves being the visible face of the store to customers, performing essential functions for the proper operation of the point of sale and customer satisfaction. Tasks include receiving and providing personalized assistance to shoppers, with a special focus on international passengers, delivering high-quality service and efficiently resolving their inquiries. Additionally, the role entails promoting and selling products — specifically in the categories of perfumery, cosmetics, beverages, and tobacco — using proactive sales techniques to boost transactions and achieve established business goals. Another core responsibility is full management of the cash register, including processing payments via various methods such as cash, credit/debit cards, and electronic systems, ensuring transaction accuracy and responsible handling of money. The Shop Assistant is also responsible for maintaining store order and visual presentation, which involves continuously restocking products on shelves, organizing display space, and performing basic cleaning to ensure an attractive environment. Regarding inventory management, the Shop Assistant must conduct stock checks, identify slow-moving or out-of-stock items, and report these needs to the relevant supervisor to maintain optimal supply levels. Finally, strict compliance with security protocols and established operational procedures — especially in the port environment — is essential to ensure safe and regulation-compliant work performance. Working hours require total schedule flexibility, as they are tied to ship arrivals and departures at the port; therefore, full availability to work according to port operations is mandatory. The offered contract is temporary, with specific training provided on products and store operations within a port environment. The workplace is the Tarragona Cruise Terminal, in an international setting enabling direct contact with customers from multiple nationalities. For this position, at least one year of prior experience in retail or customer service is required, preferably in tourism-related or high-international-traffic environments. A medium-to-high level of English (B2 equivalent) is mandatory, and knowledge of additional languages such as French or German will be considered favorably. Furthermore, the candidate must possess effective communication skills and a profile clearly oriented toward proactive selling and achieving business objectives.
