Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a Grid Code Compliance Engineer to ensure smooth and methodical interconnection processes, negotiating with grid operators and validating electrical models. Key Highlights: 1. Experience in grid connection and integration for energy projects 2. Knowledge of interpreting electrical simulations and grid codes 3. Proficiency in specialized software (PSSE, PSCAD, DigSilent) and Python **ACCIONA Energía is the world's largest 100% renewable energy company with no fossil fuel legacy. With over 30 years of experience and operations across 20 countries on five continents, ACCIONA Energía offers a broad portfolio of tailored energy solutions enabling its corporate and institutional clients to achieve their decarbonization goals. This includes the development, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of renewable power plants \-primarily wind and photovoltaic technologies\-, energy sales and management and marketing, energy services, self\-consumption, electric mobility, and emerging technologies such as energy storage and green hydrogen. ACCIONA Energía adheres to the most stringent environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) criteria.** ACCIONA requires a Grid Code Compliance Engineer for its Engineering and Construction area within the Energy Division, based at either Avda Ciudad de la Innovación 5 (Sarriguren) or Gran Vía de Hortaleza 3 (Madrid). Your mission will be to ensure that ACCIONA Energía’s project interconnection processes are as fluid, organized, and methodical as possible, with particular sensitivity to local regulators’ requirements and preferences, while reviewing all procedures related to electrical models and the plant’s actual behavior — in coordination with equipment manufacturers, grid operators, and ACCIONA Group’s international offices. **Job Description** Interpretation of various grid codes to accurately determine which studies, tests, and procedures are required from the development phase through to Commercial Operation Date (COD) to demonstrate grid code compliance. * Drafting and implementing verification procedures for electrical models to ensure, as early as possible, that such models possess sufficient capabilities and appropriate tuning to meet grid code and additional market requirements where they will be deployed. * Conducting and monitoring necessary studies and simulations to demonstrate grid code compliance for the company’s projects. * Negotiating with grid operators on test protocols to be performed prior to declaring commercial operation, to demonstrate grid code compliance. * Drafting and implementing procedures ensuring that model tuning parameters previously agreed upon and validated by the grid operator are fully transferred (100%) to actual equipment (inverters, wind turbines, and plant controls). * Drafting and implementing procedures ensuring correct operational performance — from the moment the plant is energized — regarding equipment communication and capabilities of key plant components, including wind turbines/inverters, plant control systems, meters, reactive power compensation devices, and on-load tap changers (OLTC). * Monitoring, coordinating, and validating test protocols both at factory and on-site to demonstrate grid code compliance. * Refining procurement specifications and certification requirements for turbine, inverter, and plant control system suppliers’ control systems and simulation models. * Establishing the required documentation list (and applicable deadlines to avoid jeopardizing critical project milestones) to be submitted to the utility company before grid connection and before declaring commercial operation. **Required Skills and Competencies** EDUCATION * Industrial Engineering – Electrical Specialization EXPERIENCE * Experience in grid connection and integration for energy projects, preferably in renewables SKILLS * Technical analysis and precision * Teamwork * Initiative * Communication * Adaptability SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE Languages * English (Advanced level) Tools * Specialized electrical simulation software (PSSE, PSCAD, DigSilent) and Python. Others * Knowledge of interpreting electrical simulations and field control test results * Understanding of grid codes and grid connection regulations Minimum 3 years of experience*As a company that values diversity as a source of talent, we work to foster an inclusive environment that promotes respect, belonging and engagement so that all people can participate on an equal opportunity basis.
