Objective
FUNCTIONS
* Plan, coordinate, monitor, review strategies and evaluate treatments within their specialty, in close collaboration with other professionals, to provide interdisciplinary care appropriate to the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families.
* Participate in identifying and assessing the individual's motor-related needs, including acquisition of motor skills, based—where applicable—on the corresponding medical assessment; develop observation, analysis, and data recording tools; apply physiotherapy-specific methods and programs; and submit these records annually for follow-up by the Management Team.
* Implement an individualized, specific physical education and/or habilitation program tailored to the individual's needs, aiming to maximize their motor development according to objectives established in their personalized plan.
* Teach the use of appropriate motor patterns, habits, and adaptations to maximize personal capabilities and functional autonomy.
* Advise on developing and implementing preventive postural hygiene programs, benefiting all service users.
* Guide, collaborate with, and/or perform adaptations to support the individual's development in center-based activities.
* Guide and establish action guidelines in coordination with the team within their area of expertise to reinforce the individual, and communicate these guidelines to families during periodic meetings.
* Inform the professional team about aspects of physiotherapy treatment that must be considered when carrying out center activities and developing individualized programs related to motor aspects.
* Design and implement the physiotherapy treatment required by users under their care.
* Provide families with specific guidance to jointly address priority physiotherapy treatment goals for their relatives, in coordination with the care team.
* Support the monitoring and evaluation of individual plans and programs by contributing expertise and applying techniques and tools for analyzing and measuring the individual's motor development.
* Submit evaluations for each person treated for archiving in their personal file.
* Intervention and counseling for individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families.
* Preparation of reports and management of documentary archives.
**Profile:**
University Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy is required. Training in specific therapies for people with functional diversity, and in quality-of-life management for people with disabilities and their families, is recommended.
