------------
Metzineres is a non-profit cooperative based in the Raval neighborhood (Barcelona), creating sheltered environments for women and gender-diverse people who use drugs and survive multiple situations of vulnerability and violence.
We are seeking a nurse with knowledge of intersectional feminism and harm reduction. We encourage applications from individuals with lived experience—including migrant women, lesbian, bisexual, and trans women, gender-diverse people, racialized women, Indigenous and Afro-descendant women, and women with functional diversity.
Your day-to-day responsibilities
At Metzineres, we integrate a holistic vision of health alongside a full-spectrum harm reduction perspective. Moreover, we believe health is built collectively within communities. Therefore, beyond basic nursing functions—such as accompanying drug use, wound care, medication administration, etc.—you will participate in coordination with other services and attend meetings and training sessions across various advocacy spaces.
Metzineres operates through participation and horizontal structures. Decision-making involvement is real, and each professional actively participates from different responsibilities and within their respective scope of action. For this reason, dedicated time is allocated to collective reflection meetings and joint decision-making, organized across various decision-making spaces.

About Metzineres
Women and gender-diverse people who use drugs—and who survive multiple violences and situations of vulnerability—rarely access or engage with socio-healthcare networks, and are often excluded from specialized services both in drug-related support and in addressing gender-based violence.
In response to this situation, Metzineres was founded in 2018 to deploy Sheltered Environments exclusively for these individuals, integrating a full-spectrum harm reduction approach, intersectional feminism, and peer empowerment into its intervention model. After three years operating under the umbrella of other organizations, in 2020 Metzineres became an independent non-profit cooperative and began a process of institutional autonomy, now nearing completion. This circumstance—combined with years of work and experience—has generated stability and maturity as a project, enabling us to envision an exciting future trajectory.
Currently, the Metzineres team comprises nineteen people: eleven belong to the intervention team—those directly working with participants—and eight belong to the structural team—those responsible for sustainability, organization, strategy, and advocacy of the cooperative. After a long path of learning and growth, we can now affirm that Metzineres consists of a cohesive, committed, participatory, and responsible group of people, where camaraderie, solidarity, and mutual support prevail.
Thanks to this articulated social ecosystem—and driven by the need to consolidate our work, along with recent acceptance of several projects to be developed in upcoming phases—Metzineres is expanding its team! We aim to grow in diversity, heterogeneity, and complexity without losing unity.
