Description

**ACCIONA Energía is the world’s largest 100% renewable energy company with no fossil fuel legacy. With over 30 years of experience and operations across 20 countries on five continents, ACCIONA Energía offers a broad portfolio of tailored energy solutions enabling its corporate and institutional clients to achieve their decarbonization goals. This includes the development, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance of renewable power plants — primarily wind and photovoltaic — energy management and trading, energy services, self-consumption, electric mobility, and emerging technologies such as energy storage and green hydrogen. ACCIONA Energía adheres to the most stringent environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria.** ACCIONA, within its Energy business line, seeks to hire an ESCO Operations Manager for the Private Sector to join its Energy Services (ESCO) area at its Madrid Campus. **Job Description** This position arises from the evolution of the ESCO area toward **higher-value projects**, **long-term contracts**, **CAPEX-based solutions**, operation and maintenance, and an **operational model specifically adapted to an energy services company**. The incumbent’s mission will be to ensure that solutions developed by the commercial area and technical office are executed, commissioned, and operated according to criteria of **safety**, **availability**, **performance**, **profitability**, and **risk control**. This role reports to the **Director of Energy Services** and will lead an in-house team of project managers, commissioning technicians, and O\&M leads. **Job Mission** Lead the execution, commissioning, operation, and operational monitoring phases of private-sector ESCO projects, ensuring that client-committed solutions are technically and operationally viable, maintainable, replicable, and aligned with ACCIONA Energía’s risk profile. **Main Responsibilities** **1. Team Leadership and Development** * Lead, structure, and **grow the operations team** (project managers, commissioning technicians, and O\&M leads) as the ESCO project portfolio expands. * Define the team’s organizational structure and actively participate in **candidate selection and onboarding processes**. * Drive professional development through **mentoring**, technical training, and career development plans. * Set clear objectives, **evaluate performance**, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team. * Serve as a technical and leadership reference, delegating judiciously and **building internal execution capabilities** within the team. **2. Execution and Commissioning Leadership** * Lead the start-up, planning, execution, and operation and maintenance of energy projects from contract signing through stable operation. * Coordinate detailed engineering, technical procurement, construction, installation, testing, legalization, commissioning, and handover to operations. * Supervise adherence to timelines, CAPEX budgets, technical quality, permits, contractual conditions, and safety requirements. * Ensure execution aligns with the ESCO model: long-term contracts, future operation, guaranteed performance, and ongoing client relationship. **3. Technical, Operational, and Risk Management** * Coordinate engineering firms, technology suppliers, EPC contractors, installers, maintenance providers, and specialized partners. * Validate that proposed solutions are operable, maintainable, and suitable for the client’s process prior to committing to significant contractual obligations. * Participate early in reviewing projects with future operation to identify technical, performance, availability, client-site integration, and maintainability risks. * Support the definition of GO/NO GO criteria from an operational and risk perspective, avoiding projects we cannot execute or operate reliably. * Define mitigation measures, responsibilities, guarantees, SLAs, and operational limits prior to finalizing binding offers and contracts. **4. Client Liaison and Internal Coordination** * Act as the technical-operational point of contact for the client during execution, commissioning, and operation and maintenance. * Ensure the implemented solution meets committed service levels, performance, savings, availability, or production targets. * Coordinate with Commercial, Technical Office, Bidding, Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Health & Safety teams to ensure a unified project view. * Translate the client’s operational needs into technical requirements, operating procedures, and measurable commitments. **5. Continuous Improvement, Standardization, and Scalability** * Participate in defining technical standards, execution methodologies, and operational checklists for ESCO projects. * Document lessons learned from each project and convert them into replicable criteria for future bids, contracts, and operations. * Support standardization of solutions and operational models by technology type: heating, cooling, PV, BESS, energy efficiency, energy management, and renewable gases. * Contribute to building a more selective, disciplined, and execution- and operation-capability-aligned ESCO operational model. **Candidate Requirements** **Requirements** * Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Postgraduate studies in project management, energy, sustainability, or operations management will be valued. * Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in execution, operation, engineering, or management of energy, industrial, or energy services projects. * Experience with private-sector clients, particularly industrial, tertiary, or large corporate customers. * Solid knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, renewable thermal generation, electrification, industrial heating/cooling, photovoltaics, self-consumption, BESS, monitoring, and O\&M. * Experience managing complex projects involving multiple suppliers, EPC contractors, installers, technology vendors, and maintenance providers. * Ability to work in multidisciplinary environments with private-sector clients across various sectors (industrial, tertiary, etc.) under long-term contractual frameworks. *We are a company that values diversity as a source of talent and therefore strive to foster an inclusive environment promoting respect, belonging, and commitment so that everyone can participate on equal footing. We welcome applications from all individuals regardless of origin, circumstances, background, or condition. ACCIONA has received the Top Employer certification for 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, recognizing the Company as one of the best employers in Spain.*
