### **Job Description** The Maintenance Technician may also support facilities other than production, such as R\+D laboratories, office facilities, as well as technical buildings (utilities) and systems for logistics and storage. The job handles any troubleshooting to keep the production process running and performs tasks to prevent future disruptions. The work may be limited to a single technical discipline (such as structural, mechanical, rotary, electrical), or it may be more specialized so that, in addition to a primary technical discipline, the Maintenance Technician can address issues in related technical areas. Depending on the size of the facility, the number of Maintenance Technicians may vary across technical disciplines and levels of experience. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** * **Inspections and preventive/planned maintenance** + Checks and evaluates the condition of handling equipment, pneumatic and/or mechanical/electrical installations, receiving and silo facilities, grinding, mixing and pressing lines, bag filling, feed and/or fertilizer lines, bulk loading and scales, based on maintenance programs/checklists. + Restores (imminent) defects and carries out corrective maintenance activities arising from inspections (according to schedule). + Reports (potential) defects to supervisor with details on nature and severity, proposes solutions to prevent problems (future or recurring) with the operation of (parts of) equipment/machinery/transport systems. + Requests/surveys spare parts and materials for maintenance. + Works on more extensive and/or complex planned maintenance activities (e.g., during maintenance shutdowns), and may supervise third-party technicians. * **Breakdowns and defects/repairs** + Troubleshoots breakdowns and defects in equipment, machinery, measurement and control systems, and other parts of the installation. + Evaluates the nature and scope of the problem and determines whether immediate repair is necessary or possible, assesses root causes of failures and potential solutions. + Performs emergency repairs, disassembles (parts of) equipment/machinery, and carries out necessary repairs/replacements, if needed in consultation with the supervisor. + Performs more extensive repairs during scheduled times and based on prepared planning and instructions (disassembly/assembly, part replacement, component adjustment). + Works with colleagues on more extensive and/or complex jobs. May supervise third-party technicians. * **Modifications and improvements** + Carries out modifications and overhaul tasks based on work orders and/or supervisor's instructions. + Proposes improvements to equipment, machinery, and other areas based on maintenance experience and knowledge. + Consults with management on quality issues, technical problems, etc. + Orders the (re)manufacturing of certain components from drawings. + May perform various techniques (welding, lathe and sheet metal work, machining). * **Reporting** + Records all maintenance activities in appropriate maintenance management systems to ensure complete documentation and visibility of the status and history of all equipment, archives all technical data. * **Compliance** + Works in compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures (work permits, LoTo, etc.), as well as technical standards. + Reports potentially hazardous and/or unsafe situations, takes appropriate action in case of imminent unsafe conditions.
