Our Company
We are the largest Spanish airline and a leader between Europe and Latin America; we belong to the IAG aviation group and are part of the **one**world alliance. Our goal is always to be the best travel option for our customers and to ensure they feel that their safety—and the quality and experience of their journey—are our top priorities. In addition to our airline operations, aircraft maintenance is one of our complementary businesses.
At Iberia, we value our professionals as role models of behavior—not only for our customers but also within the team. We expect everyone who joins us to embody these values.
Purpose of the Role
Joining the Maintrol team—the operational control center for Maintenance—which oversees the status of Iberia, Iberia Express, and Level aircraft. Maintrol manages and provides Line Maintenance support at any stage, across all operational points worldwide, to maximize aircraft availability.
This role involves direct contact and communication with Operators, various MROs, national and international delegations, ground and flight technical crews, manufacturers, material suppliers, and generally all stakeholders involved in the Maintenance process.
Within Maintrol’s functions, the COMMS position serves as the first point of communication and control, delivering immediate initial responses and solutions to various operational situations.
Mission and Responsibilities of the Role
First-line communication and technical support among all stakeholders involved in maintenance activities, with emphasis on the following:
* First-line technical support—advising and issuing real-time instructions to technical personnel working on aircraft, including both maintenance staff and flight crews.
* Fleet status management (Out-of-Service, Limitations, Restrictions, Tasks, Counters) via our AMOS-based reporting system, SharePoint, and other standard applications.
* VHF and ACARS communication with flight crews.
* Communication with various MROs—both in Madrid and at external delegations and stations.
* Communication with handling agents and any other stakeholders involved in operational execution.
* Distribution of communications, when necessary, to different Maintrol team groups—and beyond—to Line Maintenance Operations.
* ETOPS fleet monitoring and follow-up for Long-Range aircraft, based on current regulations.
* Decision-making on aircraft dispatch configurations, typically guided by the MEL (Minimum Equipment List).
* Management of Maintrol’s primary email and ACARS communication channel.
* Support to external MROs for specific needs related to platform and eTLB control and operation.
Key Milestones and Challenges
* Develop and improve performance while working in a multidisciplinary team with high operational impact, maintaining broad global visibility of all Maintenance activities across all locations.
* Rapidly adapt to daily operations and to new procedures or milestones introduced during operational evolution—and simultaneously propose and develop further improvements to efficiently strengthen the department.
* Play a key role in the company’s own operational development, supporting critical decision-making with substantial operational impact.
Specific Requirements for the Role
* TMA Category certification.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance.
* Intermediate/Advanced spoken and written English proficiency.
Required Competencies
* Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels—internally and externally to Iberia.
* Capacity for learning.
* Initiative and proactivity.
* Focus on continuous improvement.
* High ability to work collaboratively in teams.
* Organized and methodical approach to work.
* Alignment with the Common Project.
* Cross-functional collaboration.
Desirable Qualifications
* Familiarity with AMOS.
* Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office 365\).
* Knowledge of approved manuals (Airnav X, CMM, SB, VSB, Airbus World, Geroma, Arms, etc.).
* General understanding of MRO and airline functional areas (Line Maintenance, Workshops and Components, Engines and Heavy Maintenance, OCC).
Terms of Employment
* Shift-based schedule, 24/7.
* Location: NZI.
* Membership in the Maintrol Catalogue, reporting jointly to the Operator’s Technical Directorate and the Line Maintenance Directorate—functioning as a Technical Office with all associated benefits.
