**Key Responsibilities of the Role:**
* Management of the Mechanical Systems package and leadership of all Mechanical construction activities on site.
* Management of the OFCI / Main Capital Mechanical equipment and packages.
* Management of all day\-to\-day site operations relating to the Mechanical scope and interfaces with other trades.
* Ensure Mercury policies and procedures are followed closely.
* Familiarisation with Design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of the project works.
* Management of Site Safety in conjunction with the Project Manager and the Mercury Safety Advisor, including the setup, management and closing out of the safety file as part of the Management team.
* Ensure all work activities are planned to the required level of detail, with all documentation in line with company SOPs (RAMS, SPAs, Permits) and approved at the workface.
* Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with the permitting requirements of Mercury's Safety Rules and all applicable Safe Systems of Work.
* Ensure compliance with COHE and the Operating \& Energisation Procedures for LV \& MV systems, including arc flash awareness and controls.
* Oversee the room permits process and ensure contractors on site are compliant with requirements.
* Drive a focused Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QEHS) culture within your team and subcontractors, and drive the Mercury Engineering culture of safety and quality through the project.
* Ensure all EHS alerts are communicated effectively and understood by the team, and engage in campaigns including TBTs, stand\-downs, demonstrations and safety initiatives.
* Issue weekly safety stats and project labour projections.
* Management of Site QA in conjunction with the Mercury QA Manager, including set up, management and close out of the QA file, and review of contractor QAQC documentation and site performance.
* Ensure works are installed in accordance with project specifications and to the Project QA plan (e.g. pre\-agreed benchmarking).
* Review drawings and setting\-out details.
* Review quality of output and foster a culture of continuous improvement, implementing corrective actions where required.
* Manage and oversee the quality inspection regime, ensuring subcontractors carry out and maintain all quality inspections, ITPs, RFTs and snag closure as part of their scope, and hold them accountable for completing and submitting these on time and in line with the Project QA plan.
* Management of the Mechanical design process in conjunction with the Design Manager.
* Oversee the coordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings via BIM personnel, ensuring spec compliance and schedule priority.
* Manage the generation and close\-out of RFIs and technical queries, value engineering initiatives and design risk management.
* Management of the Project Schedule in conjunction with the Mercury Project Manager, Planner, consulting Engineer and Client requirements, including weekly progress updates.
* Ensure all site works are planned according to site production control requirements (Visilean or other collaborative planning).
* Drive digital collaborative planning and Lean construction processes to ensure effective coordination, efficient execution of works and timely delivery of milestones.
* Use project lookaheads to drive delivery and resource planning.
* Schedule material deliveries to correspond with the project schedule and track all deliveries.
* Management of all costs associated with your package including: Mercury Mechanical Team; Sub\-contractors; Material deliveries and goods receipting; Plant and Equipment; Variations; Valuations.
* Own the commercial performance of the package, ensuring timely identification, management and recovery of variations, claims and commercial risks.
* Ensure subcontractor invoicing is measured in accordance with agreed progress milestones.
* Ensure Material Take\-Offs (MTOs) are completed and reviewed against subcontractor pricing returns and procurement budgets.
* Prepare Sub\-contract and Supplier Tender Packages in conjunction with the Project QS.
* Ensure subcontractors used have been vetted and approved by Mercury Procurement before use.
* Issue weekly cost reports, including all orders placed, materials expected and labour levels.
* Management of sub\-contractor activities including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels. Ensure there is a weekly minuted meeting with sub\-contractors.
* Monitor that subcontractors have sufficiently resourced the project to maintain programme delivery.
* Management of the Mercury "In Progress" snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists where applicable, and ensure all snags are distributed to and closed out by all sub\-contractors.
* Maintain an active risk register and implement mitigation measures, highlighting any risk elements within Mercury's control (e.g. late deliveries).
* Implement the Mercury Project Audit Plan, review weekly audits and address open items with your team.
* Drive closure of all open audit actions within agreed timelines and communicate findings clearly to all stakeholders.
* Capture and act on lessons learned.
* Issue direct labour hours and sub\-contractor hours to the time administrator for tracking centrally.
* Issue an internal weekly progress report rolled up from project supervisors' reports, highlighting percentage complete based on WBS codes and any concerns or risks within Mercury's control.
* Issue an external weekly progress report to the Project Manager, highlighting areas not available, delays, shortage of design, third\-party hold\-ups and percentage complete.
* Attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co\-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings.
* Attend morning whiteboard meetings and evening planning/schedule review meetings.
* Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
* Support and coach all the Mechanical team to ensure their development, which is crucial to our organisation and industry, supporting succession planning and team development.
* Set training requirements for Mercury and subcontractor staff and ensure appropriate training is available and completed.
* Direct management of the Mercury Engineering project team, including alignment of all discipline leads to the benefit of project goals.
* Drive the commissioning of all Mechanical equipment, taking ownership of completing the Red Tag (L2A – Installation) and Yellow Tag (L2B – Ready for Energisation) with all checklists and test documentation uploaded and approved in CxDE, then support the final commissioning levels — L3 Start\-Up (Green Tag), L4 Functional Performance Testing and Integrated System Testing (IST) — ensuring the Mechanical team and subcontractors deliver each level on time, to the required quality, and to CxA sign\-off.
* Close out of all project items including Final Account, O \& M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant re\-locations and Project Plan – all with the support of the site Project Manager and your project team.
* All other duties associated with the role.
**Essential Criteria for the Role:**
* Overall 10\-15\+ years of experience in the construction sector.
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical, construction management, or other relevant degree.
* Minimum 5 years previous experience in Project Management
* Proven record of coordinating and managing large installation projects
* Experience dealing with Industrial Relations issues
* Knowledge of Health \& Safety
* Experienced in design and build
* Good technical knowledge of both Electrical and Mechanical systems
* Excellent IT skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work well within strict deadlines
