We are seeking specialists with mainframe expertise to join projects in the payments sector, working with COBOL technologies on highly available critical systems. This position is based in Barcelona under a hybrid work model—some days from home and others in the office, where you can build meaningful synergies with your team. Residency in Spain and valid Spanish work authorization are mandatory. **Responsibilities:** * Development and maintenance of applications in mainframe environments using COBOL on z/OS systems. * Technical analysis and resolution of incidents in payment processing systems. * Execution of technical, unit, and integration testing for legacy applications. * Collaboration with functional teams to define and refine technical requirements for payment-related projects. **Key Accountabilities:** * Implementing evolutionary and corrective enhancements to payment systems built on mainframe architecture. * Analyzing existing COBOL code to identify performance and stability improvements. * Managing production incidents to ensure service continuity. * Documenting developments and changes in accordance with defined technical standards. **Qualifications:** Mandatory Requirements: * Minimum 1 year of professional COBOL development experience in mainframe environments. * Minimum 1 year of experience in projects related to payment systems. * Certified C1 level in Spanish. * Certified B2 level in English. **Desirable Requirements:** * Additional experience with z/OS, JCL, or CICS (not detailed by the client). * Experience maintaining legacy applications in the banking sector (not detailed by the client). Knowledge and hands-on experience with generative artificial intelligence and AI tools applied to this role are required, aligned with Accenture’s commitment to responsible and effective AI adoption.
