The Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC) is an academic institution dedicated to advanced scientific research, particularly focusing on all aspects of Catalan culture. Founded in 1907 by Enric Prat de la Riba, it serves as the authoritative body for the Catalan language as a whole, aiming to act as the academic reference for the Catalan language and culture, advise public authorities, and exert social influence through reflection, rigor, and independence of judgment. The New Normative Dictionary of the Catalan Language (NDN) project aims, in its first development phase (2025\-2026\), to extract data from selected textual and lexicographic sources, normalize data, and establish criteria for selection and drafting; in a second phase (starting from 2026\), lexicographic writing tasks will be carried out. The IEC seeks to hire two assistant linguistic technicians who, under the supervision of the project leaders, will be responsible for assisting in the manual and semi-automatic extraction of sources from different varieties of the Catalan language (geographic and functional), terminology, and neology; beginning to engage in lexicographic writing tasks; and participating in the preparation of project documentation. Main functions and responsibilities: • Extract data from textual and lexicographic sources covering various territorial varieties of the language, functional varieties, terminology, and neology. • Collaborate in data normalization tasks (file formats, form variations, etc.). • Attend lexicographic writing training sessions effectively. • Draft lexicographic entries. • Participate in project monitoring meetings and those establishing selection and drafting criteria. General requirements: • Hold a bachelor's, postgraduate, or master's degree in Catalan philology, linguistics, translation and interpretation, or applied languages, completed within the last 3 years. • Not have previously held a training contract, related to the same qualification, lasting more than 6 months. • Not have prior work experience as a linguistic technician.
