Focus on cybersecurity, communication protocols, and RF technologies. **Job Description** **Who will you work with?** Fanox, part of Wabtec Corporation, is located in Derio, Spain, and designs and manufactures relays for medium-voltage applications. You will report directly to the R\+D Director and work within a multidisciplinary team combining firmware, hardware, software, and mechanical engineering to design advanced protection and control equipment. **How will you make a difference?** As a **Firmware Engineer for Communications and Cybersecurity**, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining embedded firmware—from low-level drivers to secure device-to-device and networked communications—supporting modern firmware platforms, cybersecurity practices, RF technologies, web interfaces, and advanced HMIs, with clear documentation across all firmware versions. **What will your day-to-day look like?** * Firmware platforms: debuggers, repositories, and pipelines. * Peripheral drivers (oscillators, timers, IC, OC, PWM, ADC, etc.). * Device-to-device communications: SPI, RS\-232, I2C, etc. * Device drivers (flashes, EEPROMs, RTC, LCD controllers, etc.). * Communication applications in embedded systems. Serial and TCP/IP communication protocols: Modbus, DNP3, IEC60870, and IEC61850\. Cybersecure versions of these protocols. * Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity capabilities and properties of operating systems, networking devices, and components used in protection and control systems. * Key management and encryption. SSL/TLS. * RF and GPS technologies: WiFi, 3G modems, Bluetooth, etc. * Web server. * Advanced HMIs (graphics). * Firmware version documentation. **What do we want to know about you?** Education: Degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree in Advanced Electronic Systems, Embedded Systems Engineering, or Cybersecurity will be valued. Languages: High proficiency in English. 4–5 years of experience: * In electronic medium-voltage protection systems. * In real-time embedded development of electronic equipment. Specific knowledge: * Real-time C programming. Bare-metal and OS-based programming. * Familiarity with PIC32 microcontrollers and ARM microprocessors. * Design and development of electronic devices. * Use and management of repositories (Git). * Knowledge of cybersecurity for embedded devices and industrial communications according to standards such as IEC62443, IEC62351, IEEE1686, CRA (Cyber Resilience Act), * Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC60870, and IEC61850\) in electrical systems. * Networking knowledge, TCP/IP stack, and OSI model. * EU Regulation) and NERC CIP.
