Role Purpose The Operations HR Manager is a key figure responsible for ensuring effective people management within the dynamic, high-demand operational environment of Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport. Acting as a strategic HR partner to the airport’s various business units, this role provides comprehensive advisory support to managers and teams, promoting people management aligned with operational needs and business objectives. This position combines strong responsibilities in labor relations, people management, occupational health and safety, and operational support, leading the HR function for approximately 200 employees in a highly active, seasonal environment focused on customer experience. Responsibilities Labor Relations Lead workplace labor relations management, maintaining close and constructive dialogue with workers’ legal representatives. Participate in periodic meetings with the Works Council, managing queries, incidents, and resulting action plans. Ensure compliance with current labor legislation, collective bargaining agreements, and internal company regulations. Advise managers and employees on interpreting labor laws, collective agreements, and corporate policies. Manage disciplinary procedures, corrective measures, disciplinary files, and terminations as appropriate. Coordinate official inspections and requests from regulatory bodies, including Labor Inspection and other competent authorities. Prepare documentation and collaborate with legal teams in judicial proceedings, conciliations, and mediation processes. Recruitment and People Management Manage recruitment processes for operational roles, middle management, and specialized profiles within airport operations. Ensure staffing coverage, particularly during peak activity periods. Coordinate onboarding, internal promotions, and functional mobility. Manage workforce planning and support the development and monitoring of staff rosters. Oversee airport accreditation requirements and access permits for employees, suppliers, and external personnel. Operational Metrics Monitor people-related KPIs such as absenteeism, turnover, vacancy coverage, and employee engagement. Analyze trends and propose improvement actions in collaboration with Operations teams. Oversee payroll incidents, personnel movements, contractual changes, and special employment situations. Coordinate leave of absence processes, reintegration, statutory leaves, and other administrative or financially impactful incidents. Ensure correct application of HR processes and procedures across all operational areas. Learning and Development Ensure compliance with mandatory training related to the airport environment and applicable regulatory requirements. Identify training needs and coordinate training initiatives with corporate teams and external providers. Coordinate development initiatives, internal promotion programs, talent programs, and corporate HR projects. Occupational Health and Safety Act as the local Occupational Health and Safety coordinator, working alongside prevention services, corporate teams, and operational leads. Monitor risk assessments, preventive measures, and resulting action plans. Participate in Health and Safety Committee meetings and collaborate with prevention delegates. Coordinate audits, inspections, emergency drills, and self-protection plans. Manage occupational health and safety documentation and ensure compliance with legal and corporate safety and health standards. Promote a culture of safety, health, and wellbeing in the workplace. Commercial Operations Support Provide comprehensive HR support to the network of stores located at the airport. Oversee people management for existing food & beverage operations and for future openings or new commercial concepts. Collaborate with corporate teams on expansion projects, renovations, openings, and organizational changes. Institutional Relations Maintain working relationships with airport-based agencies and entities, including AENA and other key stakeholders critical to business operations. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations and Human Resources or Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations. Minimum five years’ prior experience in generalist or HR management roles, preferably in retail, hospitality, food & beverage, tourism, airports, or other operationally intensive sectors. Solid knowledge of Spanish labor law, collective bargaining, and labor relations. Demonstrable experience engaging with workers’ legal representatives and managing disciplinary procedures. Familiarity with occupational health and safety processes and associated legal requirements. Experience managing recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and personnel administration. Excellent communication, negotiation, and influence skills across all organizational levels. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, high-pressure operational environment. Autonomous, solution-oriented, results-driven profile with strong operational proximity. English proficiency sufficient to operate effectively in an international environment.
