Job Summary: We are seeking a hybrid Mainframe expert (Development and Systems) to enhance application performance, with expertise in COBOL, DB2, and CICS, and a focus on process optimization and technical support. Process optimization and technical support We are recruiting for a major international financial service where we manage Mainframe batch processing and operations. **Expand the team with a:** * Mainframe Expert focused on Application Performance Improvement and Optimization. * We envision a hybrid Development-and-Systems profile, deeply familiar with Mainframe applications—and thus possessing strong COBOL expertise—as well as solid knowledge of DB2 and CICS. * Initially, the candidate will undergo training and knowledge transfer from the retiring incumbent, and must be available for hybrid on-site presence; after this period, they may work either hybrid or fully remotely. **Required Knowledge and Experience:** * Minimum 2 years’ experience analyzing performance of Mainframe online and batch applications **ENVIRONMENT KNOWLEDGE:** * COBOL development expertise for both online and batch environments. * JCL knowledge, including JCL creation and execution. * DB2 knowledge. * Understanding of various DB2 objects—Tables, Tablespaces, Indexes, Fields—and how they function. * DB2 command knowledge: RUNSTATS, GRANTS, BIND, REBUILD, RECOVER, REPAIR, etc. * SQL command knowledge: INSERT, UPDATE, SELECT, etc. * Tools to be used: * + BMC AMI Catalog Manager for DB2 + BMC AMI Change Manager for DB2 + BMC AMI Ops for DB2 (Mainview) + IBM DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS **CICS Knowledge** * Understanding of various CICS components—Transaction, Program, DB2TRAN, DB2ENTRY, FILE—and how they function. * Familiarity with CICS commands such as CEMT and CEDA. **Basic MQ Knowledge (Tool used: BMC AMI Ops Monitor for MQ (Mainview))** * VSAM handling expertise, both via CICS and in batch. **Excel proficiency to generate required statistics** **Responsibilities:** **Process Optimization** * Daily analysis of CICS transaction reports: identifying potential issues and/or improvement opportunities. * CPU usage analysis: detecting possibly looping processes and/or possible improvements in executed processes. * Database (DB2) analysis (e.g., identifying candidates for compression, size analysis, contention analysis, etc.). * Disk/tape storage space analysis. **Technical support to Development teams for ad-hoc queries and analyses** * Monthly KPI report generation. * + Daily data collection + Monthly report generation * Data refresh across environments, adhering to the scheduled PROD-to-QA and PROD-to-DES data copy calendar. * + Responsible for data copying and anonymization processes. + Responsible for managing, planning, and executing scheduled weekend data copying and anonymization processes. + Documentation maintenance. **Data Anonymization** * Development and maintenance of COBOL programs and JCLs that anonymize PRODUCTION data prior to loading into pre-production environments. * Periodic review of sensitive fields in the database to verify correct anonymization. * Documentation * RVS files * + Up-to-date inventory of R4Q (HOST) to KV1 shipments + Uncataloging and modification of shipment/receipt jobs as needed + Host data dictionary; updating the database with host downloads * Madrid, Spain * Indefinite contract * \> 2 years of experience * Vocational Training (FP) * 0 * English () * 0 ()
