**Verdalia Bioenergy** is a company specialized in the development, acquisition, construction, and operation of biomethane projects across Europe. Its activities focus on the valorization of organic waste for renewable energy production, contributing to the circular economy and decarbonization.
Joining the internship program will allow participants to gain firsthand insight into biomethane-related project development and engage in a multidisciplinary environment related to energy, sustainability, engineering, and business analysis.
About the Feedstock Department
Training will take place within the **Feedstock Department**, a strategic area responsible for ensuring the sustainable supply of raw materials required for biomethane production.
During the internship, the participant will learn how the availability of organic waste and agricultural by-products is assessed, along with their technical, economic, and logistical feasibility and potential use in biomethane plants.
The experience will further enable understanding of the Feedstock Department’s relationship with other areas such as **Project Development, Engineering, Operations, and Finance**, providing a holistic perspective on the various phases of a biomethane project.
Training objectives
The program aims to enable the intern to:
* Understand how raw material supply for a biomethane plant is planned from the initial stages of a project.
* Learn methodologies to identify and analyze potential sources of agricultural, livestock, and industrial waste.
* Develop capabilities to analyze territorial, logistical, and economic information.
* Become familiar with key factors determining the viability of raw material supply.
* Learn to work with databases and analytical tools applied to the energy and environmental sectors.
* Understand the biomethane value chain and interactions among different technical and business areas.
* Develop competencies to interpret and communicate information through reports, indicators, and presentations.
* Become acquainted with digitalization initiatives and process improvement efforts applied within the Feedstock area.
Learning plan and training activities
Always under the guidance and supervision of the team, the intern will have the opportunity to:
* **Raw material identification:** learn how to identify and characterize potential sources of waste and by-products suitable for valorization toward biomethane production.
* **Data analysis:** participate in studies of databases on the availability of agricultural, livestock, and industrial waste, learning how to interpret the obtained information.
* **Territorial analysis:** collaborate in the creation of maps and territorial studies to understand the availability and geographical distribution of raw materials for potential projects.
* **Logistics:** participate in logistical feasibility studies, analyzing factors such as distances, availability, costs, and transportation alternatives.
* **Market information:** learn how to structure and update information about potential suppliers and producers of raw materials.
* **Documentation:** become familiar with the documentation process associated with supply agreements and assist in its follow-up for training purposes.
* **Economic analysis:** learn how to analyze indicators related to supply and transportation costs and understand their impact on project viability.
* **Market studies:** collaborate on analyses regarding biomass availability and market evolution.
* **Reporting:** participate in preparing reports and presentations, learning how to synthesize technical and economic information to facilitate interpretation.
* **Technical visits:** accompany the team, when necessary, on site visits related to projects to observe first-hand the characteristics of raw materials and their supply chain.
* **Multidisciplinary work:** learn how information is shared and analyzed between Feedstock, Project Development, Engineering, and Operations.
* **Digitalization:** participate in internal process improvement and digitalization projects, acquiring knowledge of tools applied to information management and analysis.
Mentorship and follow-up
The intern will be assigned a **specialized Verdalia mentor**, who will support their progress throughout the internship.
At the beginning of the internship, specific learning objectives will be established, and periodic follow-up will be conducted to monitor progress. The mentor will provide guidance and feedback to support both the acquisition of technical knowledge and the development of cross-cutting competencies.
Activities will be carried out progressively and under supervision, always maintaining the academic and training purpose of the internship.
