

Behaviour change is one of the hardest aspects of communication. Getting someone to do what you want is not only morally dubious but can result in resistance and resentment. However, one key principle of applied psychology called 'intrinsic motivation' can help us. It's all about understanding what your audience WANT to do, and making that as easy as possible. The trick is then tying your goals into the process. Change shouldn't be about forcing others to do your bidding, it should be about finding ways to meet both side's needs for mutual benefit.
