Your role: As a Tactical Buyer at VDL Defentec, you play a crucial role in the development and production of systems and products for security and defense. The majority of procurement volume relates to production. You are responsible for benchmarking, market analysis, and our supplier network. We consider it important that procurement is involved as early as possible, so you will have extensive interaction with product development and engineering. At the current stage of our organization’s development, numerous interesting NPR\-procurement projects also arise. The procurement team consists of a Strategic Buyer, another Tactical Buyer, and a Procurement Administration Officer. Together, you tackle all procurement challenges. Operational procurement falls under the Supply Chain Management department. *Your key responsibilities:* * Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers—e.g., establishing contacts, setting up procurement contracts, and conducting periodic reviews. * Negotiating and agreeing on prices, contractual terms, delivery arrangements, and annual targets. * Initiating, coordinating, and managing cost-reduction activities. * Monitoring and analyzing supplier\-KPIs and taking corrective actions when necessary. * Independently setting up and executing tender processes (including supplier selection and \-nomination), managing the contract database, and overseeing the tender calendar. * Managing, evaluating, and negotiating technical product changes (engineering changes), including impact analysis, documentation, and commercial alignment with suppliers. Your strengths * You hold a successfully completed HBO degree in a commercial or technical field. * You have several years of work experience within a high-quality, technical production environment. * You possess knowledge of supply chain management and demonstrable experience purchasing complex, technical components, products, and semi-finished goods. * Holding NEVI 1 and NEVI 2 certifications is considered an advantage. * You possess strong negotiation skills; you know how to achieve sharp, targeted objectives and optimally manage supplier relationships. * You maintain a holistic perspective and continually seek further improvements. * You demonstrate excellent numerical and analytical insight.
