Madrid \- 100% \| Permanent We are seeking a highly motivated Deputy Project Manager to support the delivery of a major pumped storage hydropower project in Spain. The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in overseeing all aspects of project execution, with a particular focus on civil engineering works, including tunnels, shafts, dams, underground caverns, and hydraulic structures. This project will be based in Ponferrada, near Leon and we offer certain flexibility location\-wise. Your accountabilities* Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing all phases of the project lifecycle. * Lead and supervise civil engineering activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations. * Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely and cost\-effective delivery of civil works. * Monitor construction progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies. * Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and schedules. * Participate in stakeholder meetings and represent the project in technical discussions with authorities and partners. * Ensure quality control and adherence to contractual obligations. * Assist in budget management and cost tracking related to civil components. Become part of Alpiq \- your energy matters!**Your profile** * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. * Minimum 8 years of experience in large infrastructure or hydropower projects, preferably including pumped storage. * Proven experience in managing or coordinating civil works on complex construction sites with Capex \> 20 MEuros. * Strong understanding of geotechnical, hydraulic, and structural engineering principles. * Familiarity with Spanish construction regulations and permitting processes is an asset. * Excellent communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is a strong advantage. * Strong organizational and leadership abilities. * Experience with underground works (tunnels, caverns). * Knowledge of FIDIC or similar contract frameworks. * Ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. * Proficiency in project management tools (Primavera, MS Project, etc.).
