Our Salares Norte operation is located 180 kilometers from Diego de Almagro and 330 kilometers from Copiapó in the Atacama Region. We are part of Gold Fields Limited, a South African group with over 130 years of history in the global mining industry, recognized as one of the world’s leading gold producers, with operations in Australia, Ghana, Peru, South Africa, and Chile. **About the Role** The Geologist is responsible for leading on-site geological management at the Salares Norte extraction site, ensuring the integrity of mining production plans through the development and updating of accurate geological models. Additionally, the role ensures that critical information is protected and delivered timely to optimize decision-making in mineral extraction. The main challenge of this role is balancing technical accuracy with efficient time management, ensuring compliance with high-quality standards in a high-altitude work environment. Furthermore, the role requires coordination of multiple complex geological processes and rapid response to sudden changes in ore conditions, always aiming to optimize resources. **Requirements** Education and Experience * Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mining Geology, or related fields. A postgraduate degree or specialized certification in Geological Modeling or Applied Geostatistics in mining is desirable. * Minimum of 6 years of applied geology experience in the mining sector, preferably in gold or similar mineral extraction. Experience in geological data management and specialized modeling is required. * Proven experience leading the establishment and refinement of geological models; guiding lithology and mineralization studies; and leading geological database management. * Experience implementing geological data security and safety policies; and evaluating and managing opportunities for improvement in geological processes. Key Knowledge Areas * Advanced geological modeling in gold mining. * Precious metal extraction processes. * Geological database management. * Lithology and mineral structure analysis and evaluation. * Geological data security and quality policies. Desirable Knowledge: * Applied geostatistics in mining. * Quality standards for geological study providers. * QA/QC methodologies in mining. * Mineral quality control methodologies.
