Customer Activation Specialist Interim

Company
Description
**Hello! We're Teya.** Teya is a payment and software service provider, headquartered in London serving small, local businesses across Europe. Founded in 2019, we build easy to use, integrated tools that enable our members to accept payments and boost business performance. **At Teya we believe small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities.** We’re here because we don’t believe there’s a level playing field that gives small businesses with a fighting chance against the giants of the high street. We’re here because we see banks and legacy service providers making things harder for them. We don’t think the best technology or the best service should be reserved for those with the biggest headquarters. We’re here to fight for a future where small, local businesses can thrive, and to commit the same dedication they offer all of us. **Become a part of our story.** We’re looking for exceptional talent to join our mission. We offer a chance to create impact in a high\-energy and connected culture, while benefiting from continuous learning opportunities, a supportive community which is proud to serve our mission, and comprehensive benefits. **Your Mission** ------------- As a Customer Activation Specialist, your mission will be to help Teya’s new merchants quickly and securely derive value from our products. You’ll provide support throughout their journey — from onboarding through initial adoption and ongoing activation — helping merchants complete key setup steps, understand the value of our solutions, and develop usage habits that drive engagement and long-term success. This is a temporary position focused on covering vacation periods, designed for an organized, commercially minded individual eager to learn how customer activation works within a dynamic fintech environment. You’ll work with support from more experienced colleagues, while taking ownership of your daily tasks and contributing to activation performance. This position is offered under a temporary contract specifically intended to cover vacation periods. **Your Team** ------------- Your role will be part of a cross-functional team focused on helping merchants start successfully and get the most out of Teya’s products. You’ll work closely with onboarding, customer support, sales, product, operations, and marketing teams to deliver a seamless and consistent experience to merchants. You’ll learn how merchant needs evolve during the early stages of their lifecycle and help translate those insights into improved activation journeys, clearer communications, and more robust operational processes. **Your Role** -------------- In your day-to-day work, you’ll be responsible for: * Supporting new merchants during onboarding and initial activation, helping them complete critical setup steps and begin using Teya’s products successfully * Tracking activation progress and proactively contacting merchants at key moments to reduce drop-off and accelerate product adoption * Using calls, emails, messaging, and other communication channels to guide merchants clearly and professionally * Identifying common onboarding or activation blockers and escalating issues to the appropriate team when necessary * Helping improve activation journeys by detecting patterns, sharing feedback, and proposing practical process improvements * Collaborating with internal teams to ensure merchant-facing information is accurate, timely, and easy to understand * Keeping records and activity updates organized in the relevant systems * Supporting activation KPI reporting and team performance tracking, learning how daily activities connect to business outcomes * Contributing to testing new ideas, communication approaches, or process changes that improve merchant activation * Developing strong knowledge of Teya’s products, merchant needs, and operational processes supporting customer success **Your Profile** ------------- We care more about your potential, attitude, and ability to learn than a perfect CV. That said, you likely bring some of the following: * Experience in a client-facing, operations, support, onboarding, commercial support, or activation role * Strong communication skills in Spanish and English, with the ability to explain information simply and clearly * Customer orientation and genuine interest in helping merchants succeed * Good organizational skills and attention to detail * Comfort working with goals, workflows, and performance metrics * Ability to manage routine tasks autonomously, knowing when to seek guidance * Proactive mindset and willingness to improve processes when something isn’t working well * Ability to collaborate across teams and build positive working relationships * Curiosity about data, customer behavior, and factors driving activation and engagement * Practical mindset, eagerness to learn, and motivation to grow in a dynamic environment **What Success Looks Like in This Role** -------------------------------------------- In this position, success means: * New merchants move smoothly through onboarding and begin using Teya’s products earlier * Activation blockers are identified early and managed efficiently * Communication with merchants is clear, helpful, and timely * Team processes become increasingly consistent and effective over time * You develop solid product and customer knowledge, gradually assuming greater responsibility as your confidence grows **Why This Role Matters** ------------------------------------- Customer activation is a critical part of the merchant experience. This role helps close the gap between a merchant signing up and the moment they are fully configured, engaged, and deriving value from Teya right from the start of their journey. Your work will directly influence merchant satisfaction, product adoption, and long-term retention. **What We Offer** ----------------- * A collaborative work environment with support and mentorship for your development * **A competitive salary: €30k annually.** * Exposure to cross-functional work with operations, product, and customer-facing teams * The opportunity to grow your career in a scaling fintech * A role with clear impact on merchant experience and business performance * Market-specific benefits and workplace policies, which will be shared during the selection process **Teya is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.** We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or background can thrive and do their best work. We believe that a diverse team leads to better ideas, stronger outcomes, and a more supportive workplace for all. If you require any reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process whether for interviews, assessments, or other parts of the application—we encourage you to let us know. We are committed to ensuring that every candidate has a fair and accessible experience with us.
