The Institute’s mission is to conduct excellence-driven research aimed at devising methods enabling efficient development of software products with sophisticated functionalities and high quality—i.e., secure, reliable, and efficient. Within IMDEA Software’s scientific strategy, deployment of a mirror of the supranational Software Heritage infrastructure is planned. More information about the Institute can be found here: https://software.imdea.org ### **Description** The IMDEA Software Institute is seeking a Systems Administrator to join a team responsible for designing and overseeing all IT systems and networks managing infrastructure at the IMDEA Software Institute. The selected candidate will collaborate with developers, systems administrators, and the Institute’s DevOps team. A primary responsibility will be the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of the Software Heritage mirror at IMDEA Software, coordinated with other international initiatives. ### **Responsibilities** Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Configuration, administration, and maintenance of Linux networks and servers, with special emphasis on the Software Heritage infrastructure. * Installation and maintenance of applications, including potential contributions to the maintenance and development of Software Heritage. * Configuration and monitoring of backup systems. * Definition of requirements for new hardware, software licenses, maintenance contracts, and procurement. * Software updates across all Institute systems. * Configuration and management of staff workstations. ### **Requirements** We expect practical knowledge of a range of skills and technologies widely used in the Institute’s software infrastructure and in the Software Heritage mirror. The most relevant for this position are: * Experience defining requirements for new hardware, software licenses, maintenance contracts, and procurement. * Demonstrable experience administering Linux systems (especially Debian/Ubuntu) at a low level (processes, filesystems, devices, and applications). * Solid knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash). * Ability to learn new technologies and applications. * Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, and to critically analyze existing situations and propose improvements. * Fluency in spoken and written English (B2 level or higher). ### **Additional Qualifications** In addition to the required qualifications, the following will be considered advantageous: * Virtual machine administration. * Experience configuring large-scale servers (for storage, computation, network interconnection, etc.). * Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.). * Experience with event management systems (e.g., Kafka). * Knowledge of modern programming languages (Python, Rust, Go, etc.). * Experience in developing and maintaining websites. * Knowledge of networking systems and protocols. ### **Profile** * Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field. * A master’s degree in areas relevant to this profile will be viewed favorably. * Demonstrable experience in Linux systems administration. * Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking. * Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish. * Proactive attitude. ### **Our Offer** We offer a permanent position (Article 23 bis of the Spanish Science Act).
