Summary: We are seeking a leader with experience in cultural management and music production to coordinate the activities of a symphony orchestra. Highlights: 1. Will lead the technical and production area for over 150 annual concerts. 2. Continuous collaboration with the Principal Conductor and Programming Director. 3. Clear orientation toward quality and artistic excellence. At the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, we are launching a new call to incorporate a key figure into the orchestra’s leadership team. We seek a person with experience in cultural management and music production, leadership capability, and artistic sensitivity to coordinate the activities of one of the country’s most active musical organizations. The work environment involves large-scale symphonic productions, opera, audiovisual concerts, and innovative projects. The selected candidate will lead the technical and production area, coordinating teams, budgets, logistics, and artistic operations across a season comprising over 150 concerts annually. 1\. Team Leadership and People Management – Leadership of the internal team of 5–6 people (hiring, stage management, production, archiving, HR, and supervision). – Supervision of the artistic staff: collective agreement, service schedule, audition processes, and rights management in collaboration with HR. – Conflict resolution with empathy and assertiveness; supporting the team during high-pressure periods and facilitating their professional growth. 2\. Production and Operations – End-to-end responsibility for all OSV productions: symphonic series, chamber music, education programs, innovative formats, and FOC’s opera productions. – Coordination with venues and facilities: negotiation of conditions, stage technicians, and logistics. – Coordination with external professionals: guest conductors, soloists, concertmasters, choirs, stage directors, recording engineers, and sound engineers. – Anticipation of technical, logistical, and artistic challenges: proactive risk management to safeguard output quality. 3\. Artistic Coordination – Ongoing collaboration with the Principal Conductor, Resident Conductor, and Programming Director: season planning and implementation of performance protocols. – Technical advisory support to the artistic committee and liaison with national and international artistic agencies. 4\. Budgetary Control – Preparation of project-specific budgets by category (fees, logistics, technicians, materials, and venues) and active monitoring throughout execution. – Management of artistic fees and economic viability analysis for new productions. – Project- and season-level KPIs, early detection of deviations, and negotiation with suppliers, technicians, and venues. 5\. Technology and Innovation – Use of artificial intelligence and digital productivity tools in daily management: documentation, communication, and project management. – Work with ERP systems and advanced spreadsheets for budgetary and operational tracking. – Identification of process friction points and proposal of practical solutions to improve organizational productivity. * Minimum 3 years’ experience. Operational leadership role within a professional orchestra, opera company, or comparable cultural organization. * DIPLOMA OR TECHNICAL ENGINEERING DEGREE * English (spoken Advanced, written Advanced) * Catalan (spoken Advanced, written Advanced) * Spanish (spoken Advanced, written Advanced) * Competencies / Knowledge: Symphonic and chamber repertoire. Professional music world in Catalonia and internationally. Production. Planning and execution of complex musical productions, including innovative formats and opera. * Indefinite-term employment contract * Full-time position * Additional relevant information: The Technical Director (TD) reports directly to the OSV Management and forms part of the leadership team alongside Sales & Development, Financial Direction, Management Direction, and Communications Direction. The TD is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all productive activities of the orchestra: the operational link between the artistic vision and the organization’s economic and human reality. The position requires strong management skills in a highly demanding environment and the ability to interact effectively with diverse profiles: musicians, conductors, soloists, internal teams, technicians, public administrations, and strategic partners. The person occupying this role must feel equally comfortable building a seasonal budget as resolving a last-minute conflict on stage.
