Building on our award\-winning event and sustainability programme, the Head of Events will be responsible for the operational management of the new Ocean Live Park, ensuring its successful delivery during race periods, and overseeing a compelling **portfolio of public and private events.** This role plays a key part in shaping and delivering **u****nforgettable fan experiences that surprise, engage, and attract new audiences. The successful candidate will bring strong content sensibilities, hands\-on skills, sustainability awareness, and an entrepreneurial mindset, combined with excellent planning, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.** This role will be part of the Events and Operations department and report to the Host Cities, Events and Operations Director. The Head of Events must demonstrate: * Creativity, innovation, and an entrepreneurial approach to designing value\-driven experiences that connect The Ocean Race’s global vision with each Host City’s unique identity. * A strategic, proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and a passion for sustainability. * Outstanding planning, organisational, and operational management skills, with the ability to take initiative and drive solutions both independently and through effective team coordination. * Strong leadership capabilities paired with a hands\-on attitude, comfortable stepping in operationally when needed and thriving in fast\-paced, on\-the\-ground event environments. * Excellent communication and relationship\-building skills across diverse stakeholders. * Adaptability, resilience, and effective problem\-solving skills, including the ability to remain resourceful during long event periods and extensive travel. * Exceptional interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and collaboration. **Responsibilities** **Pre\-Event** **Events \& Content Portfolio** * Design and plan the complete content programme of the Ocean Live Park, including daily public programming and event TV. * Develop and deliver in collaboration with the department members, a portfolio of events for the races, including Arrival Ceremonies, In\-Port Race dock\-out shows, Prize\-giving ceremonies, Leg Start dock\-out shows, Awards Nights, Additional events as required. **Ocean Live Park Concept** * Contribute to the strategic development of the Ocean Live Park, with a core focus on sustainability, sailing, and the sea. * Oversee project management, planning, and delivery of the Ocean Live Park. **Sustainable Event Delivery** * Work closely with the Sustainability Event Manager to ensure sustainability excellence across all The Ocean Race events. **People \& Team Leadership** * Participate in recruitment of department team members. * Lead, inspire, and manage the Events team. **Financial \& Project Management** * Create, monitor, and manage budgets for events, content, and Ocean Live Park projects. **Event Period** **Ocean Live Park Delivery** * Position the Ocean Live Park as a leading public\-facing content and animation experience aligned with The Ocean Race’s communication strategy. * Oversee day\-to\-day operations and maintenance. * Lead the finalisation of the official events schedule in collaboration with all departments and Host Cities. * Deliver all content and programming, including daily schedules and event TV. * Communicate event information clearly to all stakeholders and coordinate with Communications for inclusion in RaceNet and external messaging. **Events Delivery** * Ensure successful delivery of all public and private events listed above. * Conduct risk assessments for all events and ensure the Events team is trained in health \& safety protocols, in collaboration with Human Resources. **Sustainable Event Delivery** * Monitor implementation of the Sustainability Events Policy across all operations. **Managing Partner Commitments** * Work closely with the Commercial Director and Client Service Managers to fulfil sponsor activations, maximise opportunities, and maintain strong partner relations. **People \& Management** * Lead, manage, and motivate the Events team throughout event delivery. * Oversee and control budgets for assigned event projects. **One Team** * Promote a collaborative “One Team” approach across all departments and within The Ocean Race Family. **Post\-Event** * Manage inventory and storage of Ocean Live Park elements. * Contribute to the race’s post\-event report, highlighting key achievements and learnings. ### **Minimum requirements** * **Event Management Experience:** Proven experience managing large\-scale, high\-profile international events, ideally open to broad and diverse audiences. * **Project Management:** Strong project management skills with a record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget. * **Creativity \& Innovation:** Ability to conceptualise and develop engaging, high\-impact event concepts. * **Sustainability Expertise:** Understanding of global sustainability principles and experience implementing sustainable event practices. * **Leadership \& People Management:** Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, manage, and develop diverse teams. * **Financial Acumen**: Experience in budget creation, cost control, financial reporting, and resource management. * **Communication \& Collaboration:** Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience liaising with stakeholders at all levels; proven cross\-department collaboration. * **Health \& Safety:** Experience conducting risk assessments and familiarity with event H\&S regulations. * **Languages:** Fluency in English required; Spanish, French, German, or Italian are an advantage. * **Education**: Knowledge and formal training related to event management. Training in sustainable event creation is a plus. * **Technical Skills:** Strong IT proficiency (Google Drive, Mac environment, Keynote, and other event\-relevant tools). * **Legal Requirements:** EU nationality or eligibility to obtain required EU working permits. * **Location \& Travel:** Willingness to be based in Alicante, with regular travel during event periods and occasional travel during non\-event times.
