Position Summary: NOVERCY is seeking a Substation Engineer to perform basic and detailed engineering for renewable energy projects, ensuring robust and regulation-compliant designs. NOVERCY seeks to hire a Substation Engineer – Project Engineering for its Madrid office (on-site, with remote work flexibility subject to assessment). **Who We Are** NOVERCY is an engineering firm specializing in renewable energy and data center projects, focused on designing and developing high-technical-demand electrical infrastructures. Our primary scope includes evacuation and transformation substations, large-scale photovoltaic plants, high-voltage transmission lines, and advanced grid integration solutions—accompanying clients from early development stages through commissioning. **Position Mission** The selected candidate will be responsible for engineering evacuation and transformation substations associated with renewable energy projects (PV, BESS, wind), ensuring technically robust, optimized, and REE/distribution company regulation- and client requirement-compliant designs. The role involves participation across multiple project phases (development, permitting, construction), collaborating closely with the internal technical team as well as key manufacturers and contractors. **Main Responsibilities** * Perform basic and detailed engineering of high- and medium-voltage substations: single-line diagrams, switching schematics, equipment layout, and protection systems. * Conduct electrical calculations: short-circuit analysis, insulation coordination, busbar sizing, transformer and switching equipment sizing. * Prepare technical specifications for primary equipment (power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, capacitors, reactors) and secondary equipment (relays, SCADA, telecommunications). * Draft technical reports, material lists, and documentation for proposals, tenders, and administrative permitting. * Manage technical coordination with REE and distribution companies: grid access studies, connection permits, and dispatch requirements. * Supervise and review contractor and manufacturer engineering deliverables; validate as-built drawings, manuals, and documentation. * Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning: testing, commissioning trials, and resolution of technical issues. * Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (RAT, ITC-LAT, RGD, IEC, CENELEC) and grid access technical requirements. **Requirements and Knowledge** * Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. * Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in high- and medium-voltage substation engineering for renewable generation or power transmission projects. * Solid knowledge of substation primary equipment, electrical protection systems, and control & automation systems. * Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD software; experience with ETAP, DIALux, or equivalent electrical calculation tools is a plus. * Familiarity with Spanish electrical regulations (RAT, RGD, ITC-LAT) and applicable IEC standards. * Structured work approach, attention to detail, and deadline orientation. **Conditions** * Location: NOVERCY’s central offices in Madrid, on-site mode with remote work flexibility subject to assessment and level of autonomy. * Integration into a small yet highly specialized technical team, with direct exposure to key projects and decision-making. * Competitive compensation, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and contribution.
