Description
We are seeking to hire a person for the **Sommelier** position, responsible for providing expert advice on wines and beverages, ensuring an exceptional and personalized gastronomic experience for guests and customers.
The person in this role will serve as the restaurant’s enological reference, contributing to the development of the wine offering, driving sales, and upholding the highest service standards. Their primary objective will be to enrich the customer experience through specialized recommendations, impeccable cellar management, and close collaboration with front-of-house and kitchen teams.
**What would your responsibilities be?**
***Customer advisory and experience***
* Advise guests and customers on selecting wines, sparkling wines, spirits, and other beverages.
* Recommend food-and-wine pairings aligned with the gastronomic offerings and individual customer preferences.
* Ensure elegant, professional wine service consistent with property standards.
* Address inquiries regarding wines, regions, grape varieties, and production methods.
* Contribute to creating memorable and distinctive gastronomic experiences.
***Cellar and product management***
* Supervise proper wine and beverage storage, conservation, and stock rotation.
* Monitor inventory levels, stock availability, and replenishment needs.
* Participate in developing, updating, and enhancing wine lists.
* Track SKUs, costs, and stock levels.
* Ensure correct product presentation and availability.
***Commercial development***
* Drive premium wine and beverage sales through personalized recommendations.
* Identify upselling opportunities and ways to enhance the gastronomic experience.
* Participate in organizing tastings, enological events, and special experiences.
* Collaborate with suppliers and distributors to select new products.
* Support achievement of sales and profitability targets for the department.
***Training and operational collaboration***
* Train and support front-of-house teams on wine knowledge, food-and-wine pairing, and service techniques.
* Collaborate with the kitchen and restaurant management in developing gastronomic proposals.
* Share industry trends and innovations with the team.
* Participate in internal training initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
* Ensure adherence to quality and service standards.
**What do we require from you?**
***Education***
* Education in Sommellerie, Enology, Hospitality, or related fields.
* WSET certification, Court of Master Sommeliers accreditation, or other specialized credentials are highly valued.
***Experience***
* Prior experience as a Sommelier in gastronomic restaurants, luxury hotels, or premium concepts.
* Extensive knowledge of national and international wines, spirits, and food-and-wine pairings.
***Languages***
* Fluent Spanish and English.
* Knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
