MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
The primary responsibility will be to serve as a bridge between biological sciences and engineering disciplines, contributing to the development of new materials, bioinspired systems, underwater robotics, sensors, antifouling technologies, and autonomous platforms for civil and defense applications.
This position aligns with internal R\+D documentation identifying research lines in marine biomimetics, biofouling, bioinspired materials, biological propulsion, hybrid systems, and marine environment monitoring.
Identify biological mechanisms present in marine organisms (e.g., fish, cephalopods, rays, corals, microorganisms, algae, etc.) that are transferable to engineering solutions.
Participate in the conceptual design of biomimetic systems for underwater robotics, sensors, and autonomous platforms.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams specializing in mechanical engineering, materials science, electronics, artificial intelligence, and naval systems.
Define biological and functional requirements for developing new materials and surfaces inspired by natural marine processes.
Lead studies related to biofouling, biofilms, antifouling coatings, and sustainable technologies for marine environments.
Analyze locomotion, communication, camouflage, sensing, and adaptation strategies found in marine organisms for application in technological systems.
Design and supervise laboratory experiments and sea-based validation campaigns.
Prepare scientific publications, patents, funding proposals, and technical documentation.
Establish collaborations with universities, research centers, and international organizations.
