**DESCRIPTION**
---------------
Operations are the essence of everything we do at Amazon. Items are processed and shipped to our customers on time thanks to the effectiveness of our operations. As an Operations Supervisor, you’ll have the chance to see how these various stages function—and intervene to keep everything running smoothly.
You will be the first point of contact for team members during their shift and help them follow established processes set by your supervisors. This is a highly hands-on role that will provide you with practical experience using the tools and systems that ensure the success of our operations.
Key job responsibilities
* Measure and monitor workflow, manage productivity across the site, and provide key shift-level insights to frontline leaders to ensure operational excellence.
* Support and train staff to deliver outstanding service, and supervise them in their daily tasks.
* Support Area Leads with projects aimed at improving processes, creating a safe work environment, and increasing employee motivation.
* Collaborate with other departments to resolve common issues or ensure performance in critical areas.
* Identify opportunities to optimize safety, quality, and productivity through data analysis.
A day in the life
As an Operations Supervisor, you’ll be based in one of our operational sites. You’ll assist your Shift/Area Lead in executing the plan established for each shift. To do so, you’ll play a vital role in pre-shift team meetings and supervise procedures to ensure all team members adhere to safety standards, quality processes, and the day’s priority plan.
If you identify any issues, you’ll escalate them to your supervisor—but sometimes you’ll be the most experienced person on shift and responsible for giving others the instructions needed to complete their tasks. At other times, you’ll help your Area Lead schedule shifts to ensure sufficient staffing coverage during peak hours.
About the team
Customer Fulfilment (CF) centers are where Amazon began. CF has evolved from a modest team of booksellers into a sophisticated global team managing over 1.5 million orders daily. The team forms the foundation of our business, and its work has enabled us to expand into new regions and services. With the help of emerging technology, we’re constantly seeking ways to offer a broader, higher-quality product selection—delivered quickly and affordably.
Fulfilment centers are the first link in the chain that ensures customers receive products with the speed Amazon is known for. These centers represent the epicenter of Amazon’s rapid operational network. They are sometimes referred to as the “first mile,” since this is where most Amazon packages begin their journey. We help manage a dynamic inventory and enable fast deliveries 24/7.
Many different people work in our logistics centers, offering opportunities for diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Some of us work directly with products, while others analyze data that serves as the foundation for enterprise-wide, intelligent decision-making.
