Join us in pursuing solutions for a sustainable future.** ACCIONA, through its WATER business, requires the incorporation of a Chemical or Industrial Engineer into its R&D&i Department, within the desalination area, for projects involving seawater desalination using Reverse Osmosis technologies. **Position Description** Reporting to the Head of the Desalination and New Technologies R&D&i Area, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, execution, and monitoring of tasks associated with R&D&i projects in the field of desalination, aiming to demonstrate the technical viability of new processes and configurations. Responsibilities: * Coordination of the project team to ensure timely and proper execution of the assigned R&D&i project—related to the development of new desalination and water treatment processes. * Execution of technical activities corresponding to the assigned R&D&i project: support in the design of pilot plant(s), definition of the experimental and analytical plan, performance of experiments, supervision of pilot plant(s) results, advanced data analysis, extraction of conclusions, preparation of reports and presentations, process simulations/projections using membrane manufacturers’ software, etc. * Technical-economic management of the assigned project: planning, monitoring, and reporting, primarily. * Contribution to the transfer of R&D&i project results to business operations and protection of such results. * Ideation of new configurations, processes, and systems, and development of proposals for associated new projects. * Conducting technological surveillance to identify new advances in desalination and emerging technologies, and critical analysis thereof. * Supporting business operations to optimize existing proprietary technologies or resolve operational issues. * Preparation of reports and/or presentations (in Spanish and/or English). The Desalination and New Technologies R&D&i area currently focuses its activities on four pillars; therefore, the assigned project will fall under one of the following topics: * Reverse Osmosis desalination—particularly targeting reduction of its energy consumption. * Treatment and valorization of brine. * Pre-treatment for desalination. * Post-treatment for desalination. **Candidate Requirements** Particularly valued: * Prior experience in externally funded projects (national/European), especially in international and/or multidisciplinary consortia. * Experience in seawater desalination via reverse osmosis. * Experience in experimental design, advanced data analysis, and critical process evaluation. * Experience using reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration design software from membrane suppliers. * Prior experience operating pilot plants and evaluating their performance. Required: * University degree, preferably a PhD, in a discipline aligned with the position: chemical or industrial engineering. * Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role (including PhD/Master’s), specifically in pre-treatment and seawater desalination processes via reverse osmosis—including design, operation, and supervision at pilot-scale demonstration level. * High-level English (C1) enabling fluent written and oral communication, as well as comfortable participation in technical discussions. * Availability for occasional national and international travel. * Valid driver’s license. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and water treatment process design tools (reverse osmosis projections, ultrafiltration, etc.). * Knowledge of experimental design/data processing tools (Statgraphics / Minitab) is considered a plus.
