We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a Database Technical Office within the Social Security Data Office. This role combines a high level of technical expertise in SQL with specialization in enterprise databases, serving as a reference point for optimization, physical modeling, and efficient management of platforms such as Oracle and Teradata.
The position is based in Spain and follows a hybrid work model, with some days worked remotely from home and others on-site at the office, enabling you to build meaningful synergies with your team.
Residency in Spain and valid Spanish work authorization are mandatory.
Responsibilities:* Development of complex SQL queries using CTEs, analytic functions, and advanced aggregations on Oracle and Teradata environments.
* Performance optimization of queries through Explain Plan usage, execution analysis, and application of SQL Tuning techniques.
* Design of physical structures including partitioning, advanced indexing, compression, and data storage strategies.
* Implementation and maintenance of stored procedures, and technical support for batch, streaming, and CDC data loading processes.
Key Accountabilities:* Serve as the technical database reference within the Technical Office, defining SQL development standards and best practices.
* Analyze production environment performance bottlenecks and propose solutions based on advanced tuning and redesign of physical structures.
* Collaborate with development and architecture teams in defining physically optimized data models for high-volume scenarios.
* Produce technical documentation, usage guides, and recommendations for efficient use of Oracle Database and Teradata.
Qualifications:
Mandatory Requirements:* Advanced experience in ANSI SQL and advanced SQL (CTEs, analytic functions, complex aggregations).
* Experience with Oracle Database and/or Teradata in enterprise environments.
* Experience in performance optimization and use of Explain Plan.
* Advanced English proficiency.
* Advanced Spanish proficiency.
Desirable Requirements:* Experience in batch, streaming, or CDC data loading processes.
* Experience in physical database design (partitioning, indexing, compression).
* Experience developing stored procedures.
* Experience creating technical standards or best practice guidelines.
