Software and Hardware Engineer – Kinnovis Access (m/f/x)

Company
Description
**About Kinnovis** We are a software company headquartered in Vienna with a presence in 19 countries. Our platform helps self-storage operators automate and digitize their facilities—from daily operational management to door-opening automation. We are a profitable, owner-managed company with no external investors. This means we make product decisions based on customer needs—not on what a board wants to see next quarter. **Your Mission** You will take full technical ownership of **Kinnovis Access**, our access control system for self-storage facilities. This is a hybrid software-and-hardware role: one day you’ll develop an integration with our platform; the next, you’ll configure a Raspberry Pi in the workshop; and the day after, you’ll remotely troubleshoot why a keypad fails to open a door at a facility 400 km away. You’ll work side-by-side with our current technical team, with full autonomy to own the system from start to finish. **What You’ll Do** **Software Development** * Maintain and evolve the Kinnovis Access software stack (React, Node, PHP, Python). * Build and consume APIs and integrations with our management platform (Kinnovis Manager). * Write clean, maintainable code that others can confidently modify. **Hardware and Devices** * Pre-configure kits in the workshop before deployment: Raspberry Pi units, keypads, and PLCs for full installations. * Verify each kit using a checklist before shipment. **Networking and Communications** * Configure and diagnose device connectivity (VPN, routers, PoE) within customers’ networks. * Remotely access and diagnose already-installed equipment when incidents arise. **Installations and Incident Resolution** * Resolve access system incidents: identify whether the root cause lies in software, networking, or hardware—and fix it. **Continuous Improvement and AI** * Use AI daily to accelerate your work (coding, diagnostics, documentation). * Help build internal tools—for example, an assistant guiding installers during setup. **What We’re Looking For** * Minimum **4 years** of software development experience (full-stack or similar). * Proficiency in **React, Node, and Python**; PHP is a plus. * **Networking and communications knowledge** (TCP/IP, VPN, routers), plus enthusiasm for hands-on hardware work. * A solution-oriented person who enjoys troubleshooting and remains calm when production issues arise. * Spanish and English: daily client communication in Spanish; daily collaboration with our international team in English. ### **Also Valued** * Experience with **Raspberry Pi / embedded Linux, GPIO, relays, and serial communications** (RS-485, Modbus, Wiegand). * Basic low-voltage electrical knowledge—sufficient to collaborate effectively with electricians. * **Applied AI knowledge and regular use of LLMs:** highly valued. * Experience in access control, home automation, or IoT. * Familiarity with the self-storage industry. **What We Offer** * Competitive base salary + performance-based variable compensation. * Partial remote work with flexible hours. * Direct access to leadership: your input on products and processes carries real weight. * An international team that values autonomy and direct communication. * Flat hierarchies and short feedback cycles. * Opportunities to grow into a key role as we expand across Iberia. * Regular team events in Vienna, including our summer and Christmas parties. **Interested?** If this description matches your profile, we’d love to meet you. Apply via our careers portal: all we need is your CV and your answers to the application form. **Terms:** Full-time · Start as soon as possible **Location:** Elche / Alicante (on-site or hybrid—this role includes workshop and hardware responsibilities) **Languages:** Spanish (C2) · English (minimum B2–C1) **Travel:** Occasional trips across Iberia (installations and events)
