Description

We are seeking a **Finance Controller with a high level of initiative (*****high\-agency*****)** to lead the finance function for our Apps business unit: a rapidly growing portfolio of hundreds of proprietary mobile apps, expanding organically as well as through continuous mergers and acquisitions (M\&A). You will serve as the strategic finance partner to the business unit’s leadership and as the financial architect of our User Acquisition (UA) engine—where every euro of our monthly spend exceeding 2 million euros must be optimized to maximize margin, speed, and scale. This is a **builder (*****builder*****)** role—not a traditional administrative position. From day one, you are expected to prioritize technology: whenever a process can be automated, modeled, or accelerated using AI, you will design it that way. AI-assisted forecasting, automated reporting channels, and LLM-driven operational and expense analysis. We firmly believe that an agile team empowered by powerful tools outperforms a large team dependent on spreadsheets. You will report directly to the VP of Finance, with a direct, highly visible line of communication to the CEO. **Responsibilities** ---------- **FP\&A for the Business Unit** * **Lead the Apps business unit’s P\&L (Profit & Loss): budgeting, mobile rolling forecasts, and monthly performance analysis across the entire portfolio.** * **Develop hypothetical scenario models (*****what\-if*****) to support acquisitions, portfolio decisions, and growth strategies.** * **Leverage AI and predictive tools to compress forecasting cycles and improve accuracy—shifting from manual modeling to data-driven, continuously updated planning.** **Financial Oversight of UA (the "internal challenger")** * **Act as the primary control and balancing filter over UA spend. Audit LTV/CAC ratios and challenge assumptions underlying revenue curves and ROAS forecasts.** * **Collaborate with the UA team on capital deployment decisions, ensuring balance between aggressive scaling and sustainable contribution margin at both portfolio and app levels.** * **Ensure internal tools and predictive models deliver accurate, decision-ready financial data. Where gaps exist, drive the creation or procurement of better solutions.** **FinOps and Treasury Management** * **Negotiate and manage credit lines with major advertising platforms (Meta, Google, Moloco, Apple, etc.). Improve payment terms and optimize cash flow to support frictionless hypergrowth.** * **Manage the cash conversion cycle across advertising networks, app stores (*****app stores*****), and payment providers.** **M\&A Support (Mergers and Acquisitions)** * **Serve as a key financial collaborator in app acquisition due diligence (*****due diligence*****): revenue verification, financial normalization, and post-acquisition performance tracking against the deal case (*****deal case*****).** * **Develop repeatable, technology-enabled diligence workflows (e.g., automated financial normalization, AI-assisted document review) so the business unit can sustain a steady deal flow without headcount expansion.** * **Support debt and credit facility processes with precise, audit-ready business unit data.** **Financial Infrastructure and "AI\-First" Best Practices** * **Evaluate, select, and implement the business unit’s financial technology stack (*****tech stack*****) (ERP, BI, reporting, AI tools) to enable finance to scale efficiently with minimal headcount.** * **Automate recurring reports, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Treat repetitive manual work as a software bug (*****bug*****) to be fixed through engineering.** **Financial Control and Strategic Business Partnering (*****Business Partnering*****)** * **Oversee the business unit’s accounting and reporting (directly or via a reporting team), ensuring high-quality, audit-ready deliverables.** * **Provide strategic, actionable financial insights to leadership to guide decisions across the entire business unit. Ability to ask tough questions of executive stakeholders and back arguments with data.** **Requirements** -------------- * **7–10+ years of experience in Finance, FP\&A, or FinOps—ideally within Technology, Advertising, or Media.** * **Proven experience in agile, high-growth environments—ideally having built or scaled a finance function from scratch.** * **Expert financial modeling and analytical skills: revenue curves, ROAS forecasting, LTV/CAC, and cohort-based forecasting.** * **Hands-on FinOps experience: negotiating credit lines and improving terms with major advertising platforms.** * **High agency (*****high agency*****): a proactive profile who structures complexity and operates autonomously as an individual contributor (IC) when needed.
