Opportunities for professional growth and mentorship. **ERREKA Medical S.L.** is seeking **a Senior Product Development Engineer** to join its engineering team and contribute to the development of innovative microfluidic-based systems and consumables for life sciences and IVD. This role combines mechanical design, product development, microfluidic integration, and technical project leadership, aiming to transform customer needs into viable and manufacturable solutions—from concept through to industrialization. We seek a hands-on and versatile candidate with experience in CAD, device design (especially polymeric or microfluidic), and the ability to work on multidisciplinary projects while maintaining a Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) focus. The candidate will collaborate with various teams (assay, processes, NPI, management) on applications such as point-of-care diagnostics, cell therapy, and lab-on-chip. The company offers an agile and collaborative environment with high technical responsibility and opportunities for professional growth. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS: * Lead the development of microfluidic consumables and devices through to industrialization. * Translate requirements into robust, manufacturable designs (DFM). * Define architecture, materials, assembly methods, and tolerances. * Iteratively design, prototype, and validate products. * Support assay testing, failure analysis, and problem resolution. * Plan technical development and project strategy. * Collaborate with customers and multidisciplinary teams. * Generate and maintain technical documentation. * Participate in technical meetings and business development activities. * Mentor junior engineers and enhance internal capabilities. **Education and Experience:** * Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Microtechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. * Minimum 5 years of experience in product development (microfluidics/medtech). * Experience with microfluidic consumables or devices. * Experience in design, prototyping, and testing. **Preferred Experience:** * Familiarity with pressure- or capillary-driven systems. * Experience with microfluidic consumables and cartridges. * Knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, laser processing, bonding, adhesives). * Experience in point-of-care, cell therapy, or lab-on-chip applications. * Knowledge of ISO 13485/regulatory requirements. * Direct interaction with technical customers. * Experience working in agile environments. * Ability to manage multiple projects/customers simultaneously. * Experience in manufacturing transfer/NPI. **Required Competencies:** * Advanced CAD proficiency (SolidWorks). * Strong product development and technical problem-solving skills. * Practical mindset: innovation + speed + manufacturability. * Knowledge of microfluidic integration. * Excellent communication and teamwork skills. * Adaptability to change and ambiguity. * Ability to manage multiple technical tasks. * High autonomy and technical responsibility. * Fluent English.
