TECNALIA is seeking a Project Manager for R&D in metallic materials, focused on emerging technologies for permanent magnets.

At **TECNALIA**, we aim to strengthen the Business Area of **Manufacturing Processes and Materials** by incorporating a **Project Manager for R&D**, specialized in **metallic materials**, with a particular focus on **emerging technologies for processing raw materials used in the manufacture of permanent magnets**.
The **Metallic Alloys and Circularity Group** at TECNALIA, into which the selected candidate will be integrated, conducts research on (eco)design of advanced alloys and recycling and valorization strategies for metals, as well as innovative processes for the design and development of advanced metallic materials.
***Your Responsibilities***
You will join the team to lead the strategic line of design, development, and processing of raw materials for the manufacture of permanent magnets. Your responsibilities will include:
* **Management, planning, and execution of R&D+i projects** with companies and public bodies (national and European).
* **Development and leadership of new scientific and technological lines**, including:
+ **Recycling and recovery technologies for permanent magnets** (NdFeB, SmCo, etc.).
+ **Metallization and raw material manufacturing technologies**, such as precursors for permanent magnets, including melting, rapid solidification, and surface treatments.
* Preparation of competitive proposals for programs such as Horizon Europe, CDTI, and similar initiatives.
* Preparation of private proposals for national and international companies.
* Participation in and leadership of scientific publications, communications, and specialized conferences.
* Promotion of technology transfer to companies primarily in the metallurgical sector.
* Contribution to achieving the objectives outlined in TECNALIA’s Manufacturing Processes and Materials Area Management Plan.

**Qualifications:**
* **PhD** in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering (metallurgical specialization), Solid-State Physics, or Chemical Engineering.
* Specific training and specialization in **physical metallurgy, magnetic alloys, or melting and rapid solidification processes** will be valued.
**Experience and Technical Knowledge:**
We seek a candidate with proven experience in:
* **Recycling, recovery, and manufacturing of permanent magnets**.
* **Metallization and raw material manufacturing technologies**, using processes such as:
* + *Melt spinning* / *Strip Casting* rapid solidification
+ Ball milling / high‑energy milling
+ Thermal treatments and coating techniques
* Microstructural, thermal, magnetic, and mechanical characterization
* At least **5 years of experience managing R&D+i projects** in the field of metallic or magnetic materials.
* Experience in developing entrepreneurial initiatives and entrepreneurship will be valued.
**Networking and Interpersonal Skills**
* A **consolidated network of contacts** within the magnetic materials, permanent magnets, and circularity ecosystem is required.
* Ability to lead collaborations with research centers, universities, and companies.
**Languages**
* Spoken and written English (advanced level).
* Basque (Euskera) and other languages will be valued.
