Traffic Operator

Description

You will serve as the central point of daily operations, managing customer demand swiftly and accurately. You will receive urgent shipment requests, quote them, and propose the most efficient vehicle and route in real time. You will organize loading and fleet assignment (hook-ups, full loads, or groupage), seeking a balance among cost per kilometer, commercial margin, and service quality. Additionally, you will monitor routes from origin to final delivery, proactively intervening in cases of delays, customs issues, traffic congestion, or vehicle breakdowns. You will play an active role in optimizing the client and carrier portfolio, negotiating terms to maximize profitability. You will work under the Just-in-Time philosophy, which demands immediate responsiveness, analytical skills, and clear communication during crises or deviations. Problem resolution and a focus on commercial margin will be critical. This position, located in Irun, offers a collaborative environment and advanced technological tools for traffic management and fleet tracking. Initiative, autonomy, and the ability to work under pressure are highly valued. Constant communication with clients and carriers requires a high level of commitment and interpersonal skills. Minimum qualification: Higher Vocational Training Diploma in Transport and Logistics or equivalent field. Solid knowledge of transport regulations is required, including driving and rest times, CMR conventions, and weight and dimension limits. Proficiency in freight exchange platforms such as Teleroute, Wtransnet, or Timocom is essential. One year of prior experience in similar traffic desk roles is preferred. A B2 level of English is mandatory for communication with international clients and carriers. Candidates must be accustomed to working under pressure, possess analytical capability, immediate responsiveness, and a problem-solving and commercial-margin-oriented mindset.
