At TECNALIA, we have created a Quantum Technologies team whose mission is to help companies tackle some of the major technological and industrial challenges of the future through the development and application of advanced quantum technologies. We work in quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum communications, collaborating with companies and institutions to accelerate the transfer of these technologies to the market. To strengthen our Quantum Computing line, we are seeking to hire a researcher with a broad vision of the discipline, capable of combining expertise in quantum optimization and quantum simulation, acting as a bridge between both fields and participating in applied research and technological innovation projects. **What will you do?** The selected candidate will join the Quantum Technologies team and participate in the design, development, and implementation of advanced quantum solutions for various industrial sectors. Key responsibilities will include: Quantum Simulation Modeling industrial problems amenable to quantum optimization and quantum simulation techniques. Designing and implementing optimization algorithms based on Quantum Annealing, gate-based quantum computing, and hybrid quantum-classical approaches. Developing quantum simulation models and methodologies for studying complex physical, chemical, or industrial systems. Evaluating and comparing different computational paradigms, with a particular focus on Quantum Annealing and gate-based computing. Identifying opportunities for technology transfer between quantum optimization and quantum simulation domains. Participating in defining new research lines and generating intellectual property and scientific output. Conducting technology watch and continuous monitoring of the state-of-the-art in quantum computing. Contributing to the preparation of R\+D proposals for national, international, and European programs. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and maintaining technical dialogue with clients, partners, and collaborators. **What we offer** Join Spain’s largest applied research center and one of Europe’s leading institutions. Become part of a rapidly growing Quantum Technologies team. Participate in pioneering quantum computing projects with real industrial impact. Work in a multicultural, multidisciplinary, and international environment. Build a solid research and technological career. Access continuous training and collaboration with top-tier research groups. Benefit from work-life balance measures. **Education** University degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines. Master’s degree in Quantum Technologies, Quantum Computing, Quantum Physics, or related fields. A PhD in Quantum Technologies, Physics, or related fields will be considered an asset. **Technical Knowledge** We seek a candidate with experience in several of the following areas: Applied quantum computing for optimization problems. Quantum simulation of physical or chemical systems. Quantum Annealing and formulation of combinatorial optimization problems. Gate-based quantum computing. Hybrid quantum-classical algorithms. Scientific programming and software development in quantum computing environments. Quantum frameworks and platforms such as Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, D\-Wave Ocean, or equivalents. Knowledge of quantum machine learning and variational algorithms. Experience in applied research and technology transfer. **Especially valued** Scientific publications in quantum computing. Participation in European or international R\+D projects. Experience in preparing competitive proposals and collaborating with industry. Previous experience in technology centers, universities, or industrial R\+D departments. Ability to develop new business opportunities and research lines. **Languages** Fluency in English and Spanish, both spoken and written. **Personal Competencies** We seek a person who is: Curious and interested in exploring new ideas and technologies. Creative, proactive, and results-oriented. Able to operate effectively in multidisciplinary environments. Skilled in communication and technical dialogue. Capable of connecting diverse disciplines and identifying synergies among them. Autonomous, initiative-driven, and oriented toward technology transfer. * *We positively value applications from individuals holding a disability certificate of 33% or higher, in compliance with current legislation, the General Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and their Social Inclusion (LGD).*
