Variety of cleaning and disinfection tasks Job Description: Cleaning Staff Cleaning staff are responsible for maintaining facilities in optimal conditions of hygiene, order, and appearance. Their work is essential to ensure a healthy, safe, and pleasant working environment for employees, customers, and visitors, as well as to contribute to the preservation of spaces and equipment. Job Objective Carry out cleaning, disinfection, and basic maintenance tasks in assigned areas (offices, meeting rooms, common areas, restrooms, etc.), following established protocols and using appropriate cleaning products and materials to guarantee maximum hygiene and good condition of the facilities. Main Functions and Responsibilities Tasks may vary depending on the type of facility (office, clinic, school, commercial premises, etc.), but the most common ones include: Surface Cleaning and Disinfection * Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors (carpets, parquet, tiles, etc.). * Cleaning and disinfecting furniture, tables, chairs, shelves, and counters. * Cleaning and disinfecting door handles, light switches, handrails, and other frequently touched surfaces. Restroom and Locker Room Cleaning * Cleaning and disinfecting sinks, toilets, urinals, showers, and mirrors. * Restocking soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and other consumables. * Emptying and cleaning trash bins. Common Area and Office Cleaning * Emptying trash bins and disposing of waste in the appropriate containers. * Cleaning glass, doors, and windows (interior and occasionally exterior at ground level). * Dusting computer equipment (externally), lamps, pictures, and decorative items. Waste and Product Management * Sorting and removing waste according to recycling regulations. * Monitoring stock levels of cleaning products and supplies (brooms, cloths, gloves, etc.) and reporting when replenishment is needed. * Using products efficiently and safely, adhering to safety data sheets. Basic Maintenance and Incident Reporting * Identifying and reporting any anomalies (breakdowns, leaks, damages, missing supplies, etc.) to maintenance or supervision. * Performing minor maintenance tasks within their competence (e.g., replacing a light bulb, adjusting a faucet). Requirements and Qualifications Academic Education * No specific academic qualifications required for entry-level positions. * Completion of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) or equivalent is valued. Additional Training (Desirable) * Professional Certification in Cleaning of Surfaces and Furniture in Buildings and Premises. * Occupational Health and Safety Course specifically for cleaning tasks. * Training in handling chemical products and CLP labeling. * Training in hospital or healthcare facility cleaning (if applicable). Experience * Prior experience in similar roles is valued, although not always mandatory for entry-level positions. In specialized environments (hospitals, food industry), it is typically required.
