




DESCRIPTION To be eligible for specialty recognition, several steps must be fulfilled: 1. Hold the general medicine qualification equivalence. 2. Complete the minimum training period required by European regulations to be eligible for specialty recognition in Spain. Item number 2 is essential to obtain a positive preliminary decision—a key step in the process. Once a positive preliminary decision is obtained, the documents will be evaluated by a panel, which may issue the following resolutions: Negative Conditional upon evaluation of a professional practice period in the relevant specialty. Conditional upon evaluation of an additional training period in the relevant specialty. Conditional upon passing a theoretical-practical examination followed by a subsequent professionally evaluated practice period. As you can see, the process is lengthy, but with patience, perseverance, and full compliance with all required conditions, it can be successfully completed. REQUIREMENTS **RECOGNITION OF PROFESSIONAL EFFECTS FOR FOREIGN SPECIALIST DEGREES IN HEALTH SCIENCES OBTAINED IN NON-EU MEMBER STATES:** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Fully completed application form for specialty recognition (must include data on the degree to be recognized and, if applicable, legal representative details). * Passport of the nationality applied for and/or residence card or national ID card (DNI). * Certified copy of the foreign Specialist degree for which recognition is requested. Must be legalized and apostilled. * Certified copy of the Equivalence/Recognition Resolution issued by the competent Ministry regarding the university degree required to access the specialty for which professional recognition is requested. * Certification issued by the competent authority of the country issuing the foreign Specialist degree, confirming that such degree is official and qualifies its holder to practice the relevant specialty professionally in that country. (In this case, all standard documentation attesting medical practice issued by medical associations or health authorities of the country must be submitted; if both entities exist, documentation from both must be provided.) * Certification issued by the competent authority of the country issuing the degree, confirming that the claimed specialized training was conducted at a university center, a teaching hospital, or, where applicable, at a healthcare center accredited for such purpose. * Professional record following the model included in Royal Decree (*). (The first three sections of the aforementioned professional record are mandatory. An explanatory letter using the provided model is recommended.) * Non-EU degrees issued in languages other than Spanish must include an official translation. * Sworn statement or pledge by the applicant affirming that the foreign degree submitted for professional recognition has not previously been granted favorable recognition or equivalence implying professional qualification—either in Spain or in any other EU Member State. (A free-form format may be used.) * Code of ethics letter or professional suitability certificate (*) Additional documents (all must be apostilled if issued outside Spain). * Surgical records. * Specialist certification. * Activity certification. * Clinical residencies. * Income profiles for harmonization in Phase 1. * Society membership certifications. * Advanced courses and complementary training. * Employment and specific activity certifications in the field subject to recognition.
