We are the world’s trusted infrastructure firm, bringing together the best people, ideas, digital solutions, and technical expertise. We partner with our clients to turn their ambitions into action and change the world for the better.
We are proud to be recognized for our leadership, including being ranked Fortune’s No. 1 Most Admired Company in our industry for two consecutive years.
**Job Description** **About Enterprise Capabilities**
As a cornerstone of our Think and Act Globally strategy and digital adoption, Enterprise Capabilities (EC) is AECOM’s primary vehicle for the shared work model (*workshare*). Operating across geographic borders and time zones, EC collaborates with regional teams and Global Business Lines to deliver specialized technical expertise, accelerate project execution, and sustain AECOM’s competitiveness in the industry.
With a team of over 3\.000 technical professionals across nine countries—and supported by remote technical experts—EC delivers high-quality, specialized services to meet capacity, resource, and technical knowledge needs on projects of any size and complexity.
We are currently seeking an experienced **Bridge and/or Structural Design Engineer** to join our growing **Enterprise Capabilities Europe (Madrid)** team.
Our Bridges and Structures team has a strong track record in bridge design for projects across the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Latin America, and the Middle East. With us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to landmark transportation infrastructure projects within a diverse, multicultural environment.
**Your Role as an Engineer**
You will participate in all project development phases—from conceptual and feasibility studies through preliminary and detailed design—working across a broad range of bridge and structural projects. You will be part of large, multidisciplinary teams serving both public and private clients, including major projects under **Design \& Build** delivery models.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Perform structural calculations and modeling using specialized software, applying load combinations according to various limit states and verifying consistency between models and results.
* Prepare technical documentation—including calculation reports, quantity take-offs, and sketches for drawing production—conducting self-quality checks and participating in technical peer reviews to ensure deliverable consistency and quality.
* Participate in conceptual studies and evaluation of design alternatives (structural typologies, materials, construction methods), supporting preliminary and detailed design phases based on technical, economic, and constructability criteria.
* Coordinate with disciplines such as geotechnics, hydraulics, alignment, affected utilities, and architecture—proactively identifying and resolving interferences—and participate in technical meetings to validate project solutions and constraints.
* Apply international codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, AREMA, British Standards, Australian codes) and drive digital efficiency through use of templates, parametrization, and automation of tasks via spreadsheets and basic scripts.
**Requirements**
* Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (e.g., Roads, Canals and Ports) or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
* Experience in bridge and/or structural design (2+ years).
* **Fluent English, both written and spoken.**
* Familiarity with international codes and standards such as AASHTO, AREMA, Australian codes, or British Standards, among others.
* Proficiency in bridge and structural analysis software—preferably MIDAS Civil NX; experience with CSiBridge, SAP2000, or similar tools is also valued.
* Prior experience on projects in the United States, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand is considered advantageous.
