The Knipex 95 18 225 VDE StepCut XL cable cutter is suitable for cutting single-strand copper or aluminum cables up to 35 mm², multi-strand cables up to 70 mm², and fine-strand cables up to 120 mm². Its power joint, long levers, and optimized cutting edges enable cutting that is up to 60% easier than with compact cable cutters. It features two cutting zones: the main stepped cutting edge holds both smaller and larger cables as close as possible to the joint during cutting, while the front cutting edge is used to gradually separate (i.e., nibble) very large cables. The cutting edges are additionally laser-hardened, achieving a cutting-edge hardness of approximately 56 HRC. The StepCut XL VDE cable cutters offer comfortable operation with either one or two hands, thanks to their minimized lever width—even with large cable diameters—and to their pinch-protection feature, which prevents crushing injuries. The handles are especially non-slip and comfortable due to insulated multi-component covers. Knipex tools bearing the special 1000 V symbol are certified for use at up to 1,000 V AC. To ensure the special insulation can truly withstand these voltages, each tool undergoes a 10,000 V AC dielectric strength test before leaving Knipex.
