




Position Summary: IDEXX is seeking a Sample Management Technician to prepare and log veterinary samples, supporting rapid diagnosis of diseases in pets. Key Highlights: 1. Each day, IDEXX receives thousands of clinical samples from veterinary clinics and performs tests on those samples to help identify what may be affecting pets. As rapid results are critical, our Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Barcelona begins sample preparation at 6:30 a.m., ensuring animals receive the care they need as soon as possible. As a Sample Management Technician, you will work with samples such as blood, urine, feces, and biopsies received from veterinary clinics (there are no animals in the laboratory!). Every sample you prepare for analysis helps veterinarians move closer to a diagnosis. This is a **fixed-term contract**, starting on **July 1** and ending on **November 30**. You will work part-time, for 20 hours per week. Your schedule will be **6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday through Saturday**. **In this role, you will:** ----------------------- * Receive, prepare, and log veterinary samples for laboratory analysis. * Enter sample data into a computerized tracking system. * Organize and group prepared samples for shipment to respective analytical departments. * Support other laboratory team members in sample storage and ensuring adherence to turnaround times (TAT). * Work autonomously while having full support whenever needed. * Play a key role as part of a successful, proud, and purpose-motivated team: helping veterinarians rapidly diagnose diseases in pets and animals — isn’t that great? **What You Need to Succeed:** -------------------------------------- * Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Biology / Biomedical Sciences / Animal Sciences / Zoology or equivalent * Entry-level experience in laboratory diagnostics, either gained during studies or in an initial work experience * Experience in preparing, performing, and interpreting laboratory tests, as well as handling laboratory equipment (microscopes and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers), is preferred * Comfortable using computers for data entry * Ability to read, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality standards * Positive, goal-oriented attitude with strong work ethic and teamwork spirit * Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing or sitting for extended periods and meeting specific vision requirements (near vision, color perception, and depth perception) **Schedule:** This position’s schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Reliable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this role. **Why IDEXX:** ------------------ We are proud of what we do because our work matters.
