Description
The waiter assistant plays a fundamental role within the dining room team, providing essential support to ensure that service operations run smoothly and efficiently. Their duties begin with meticulous preparation of the space, including table setup, placement of table linens, and verification that all necessary service items are available and in perfect condition. During service, their activities focus on assisting the lead waiter, facilitating the transport of dishes and beverages from the kitchen or bar to the tables, as well as collecting and clearing utensils after guests have finished dining. Customer service is another key pillar, requiring a proactive attitude to anticipate needs and respond promptly to guest requests. Additionally, the position involves restocking and organizational tasks, ensuring that office areas, bars, and storage rooms maintain adequate and orderly stock levels to meet service demand. Close collaboration with the rest of the team is indispensable for maintaining a coordinated work environment and delivering a high-quality experience to all establishment guests.
Salary complies with the hospitality collective agreement for the province of Las Palmas, guaranteeing all legally mandated remunerations. A minimum of six months’ prior experience is required in four- or five-star hotels or in high-volume restaurants. Soft skills such as empathy, quick learning ability, and an excellent team-oriented attitude are necessary. Valid food handler certification is mandatory, and candidates must reside in southern Gran Canaria or own a vehicle for commuting.
