Position Summary: We are seeking a design engineer to design, analyze, and optimize the aerodynamics of UAVs and unmanned aircraft, maximizing range, endurance, stability, and mission effectiveness. At **SCR**, we are looking for a design engineer to design, analyze, and optimize the aerodynamics of UAVs and unmanned aircraft to maximize **range, endurance, stability, and mission effectiveness**, ensuring consistency with structural, weight, propulsion, and operational constraints. **Your responsibilities will include:** * Mechanical and structural design of UAVs and loitering munitions from concept to industrialization. * CAD modeling, drawing generation, and selection of aerospace-grade materials. * Structural analysis, weight management, and validation through testing. * Mechanical integration of propulsion, avionics, and payloads. * Support for prototyping, ground testing, and flight campaigns. * Collaboration with electronics, software, and systems teams. * Preparation of technical documentation and support for qualification processes. **Specific duties:** * Sizing structural thicknesses, reinforcements, and joints according to mission loads. * Designing mounts, anchors, and racks for avionics, batteries, sensors, and warheads. * Defining cable routing, sealed pass-throughs, and internal fixings. * Calculating and adjusting center of gravity across various mission configurations. * Designing simple mechanisms (covers, latches, release mechanisms, folding systems). * Preparing CAD files for CNC machining, mold making, or 3D printing. * Providing direct technical support to workshop/fabrication during assembly. * Implementing design changes arising from test or flight failures. * Conducting post-flight inspections and structural damage analysis. Maintaining design versions, BOMs, and configuration control. **What we expect from you:** * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aeronautical, Industrial Engineering, or related field, and eligibility to enter into a university collaboration agreement. * Minimum 3 years of experience. * Initially, you will join our San Sebastián de los Reyes site and subsequently transition to our Arganda del Rey site. * English level B2. * General aviation knowledge. * Prior experience handling and drafting technical documentation (manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, etc.). * Advanced level – 3D design – CATIA v5. * Intermediate level – Applied structural analysis (FEM) – ANSYS. * Defense regulations and standards – MIL-STD, STANAG.
