Shift Supervisor | Mining and Quarrying Sector | Sorbas (Almería)
**Why do we need you?** We are looking for a motivated, eager-to-learn individual to join our Natural Resources business unit, which operates three gypsum quarries in the province of Almería, one silica sand quarry in Portugal, and one feldspathic deposit in Segovia. This position is located in Sorbas and involves Europe’s largest open-pit gypsum mine. Our production process includes: * Removal of topsoil for use in the restoration process. * Stripping of horizontal marl layers between each gypsum level. * Drilling of benches, followed by controlled blasting to extract the mineral. * After size reduction using hydraulic hammers, the mineral is loaded onto large mining dump trucks by excavators. * Dump trucks feed the crushing plant. * Following size classification in the screening area, the material is stored in silos for subsequent transport to ports. Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to: * Coordinating productive resources during your shift, distributing workloads across the team, ensuring proper personnel management—both internal staff and contractors—and supervising efficient execution of production schedules while upholding established standards in safety, quality, environment, energy, and cost. * Proposing improvements to facility safety and hygiene conditions, aiming to optimize safe working conditions for personnel and implementing such improvements where applicable. * Ensuring that facility instructions and settings are correct. * Guaranteeing achievement of set objectives and autonomous maintenance targets. * Leading World Class Manufacturing projects and ensuring basic tools are effectively used within your team. * Leading and organizing maintenance shutdowns at the crushing plant, as well as managing breakdowns affecting both the plant and mobile equipment. **Is this job right for you?** This position is ideal if you have: * A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering—Mining Engineering is strongly preferred. * Interest in the mining sector and at least one year of experience in mining or civil works. * Experience managing teams, particularly operational staff, is highly valued. * A personal vehicle. * Residence near Sorbas or willingness to relocate. * Availability to work rotating shifts (Day/Night/Afternoon), Monday through Saturday, plus the last week of each month off. **Don’t forget anything** At Saint-Gobain, our employees take pride in belonging to an organization whose culture is built on these core values: trust, empowerment, and collaboration.
