Occupational Health and Safety Technician – Naval Sector (Shipyard and Offshore)
DESCRIPTION
**Position Purpose**
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in naval facilities (shipyards and offshore platforms), preventing accidents and occupational illnesses, and promoting a strong preventive culture in technically complex and high-risk environments.
**Main Functions and Responsibilities**
* Work condition supervision: Assess and control risks inherent to shipbuilding, repair, and offshore operations.
* Internal audits: Conduct periodic on-site inspections (in shipyards and offshore units) to verify legal and regulatory compliance (Law 31/1995, RD 1627/1997, among others).
* Accident investigation: Lead incident/accident analyses, determine root causes, and define corrective action plans.
* Training and awareness: Deliver occupational health and safety training sessions to workers and supervisors in both Spanish and English.
* Documentation management: Maintain up-to-date preventive documentation: risk assessments, safety plans, work permits, etc.
* Business activity coordination: Manage safety in multi-contractor and subcontractor environments.
* PPE use and special work control: Supervise compliance during working at heights, confined space entry, handling hazardous substances, hot work, and lifting operations.
* International interaction: Communicate with foreign technicians, supervisors, or clients. Prepare reports and documentation in English.
**Position Conditions**
* Location: Mixed between shipyards (port area) and offshore platforms (with rotations or travel).
* Schedule: Full-time, with availability for shifts or emergencies as required by the environment.
* PPE and additional certifications: Training and use of equipment such as SCBA, confined space entry, working at heights, GWO, BOSIET (as applicable).
REQUIREMENTS
**Education**
* University degree in technical fields (Engineering, Technical Architecture, etc.).
* Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety covering all three specializations (Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics and Psychosociology).
**Experience**
* Minimum of 3 years in industrial environments, preferably in shipyards, refineries, or offshore platforms.
* Practical experience managing contractors and multi-project environments.
**Languages**
* English at B2 level or higher (essential requirement). Ability to communicate orally and in writing in technical contexts.
